Hi, I'm getting ready for sleeve surgery in about 3 and half weeks and my question is...all my life I've been a HUGE Water drinker. I am ALWAYS thirsty to the point I've been tested for diabetes but no, I am just always thirsty! I drink a TON of water and I mean a ton a day. I love it. I love water more then any drink on the planet. Will I still be able to drink alot of water after the sleeve and if not, am i still going to feel the same insatiable thirst and just not be able to quench it? Thanks!

I too am a Water drinker. You just have to take it slowly. I try to sip constantly. This was the most difficult part for me. The eating I got used to. It's the not gulping that was a challenge. I try to keep a bottle with me at all times.

I was a big Water drinker also. I always had a water bottle with me and even on my nightstand so I could drink during the night.

I was one of the unlucky ones that had a taste change. Water does not taste the same to me. I drink flavored Vitamin water and diet green tea now. I also could not handle cold liquids for the first 2 weeks. I am one month out and I can drink cold now, but plain water still doesn't taste the same. I can drink larger sips now, almost normal, but I can't chug anything yet.

I am a big Water drinker and more than that... a complete chugger!

I am three months out and still can't chug water the way I used to. Sometimes I forget I'm post-op and try to guzzle my water but my stomach quickly reminds me I'm not supposed to be doing that anymore! It's hard, but I still get lots of water in and enjoy it just as much. Just have to consciously remind myself to drink it slowly.

What happens if we drink to much Water at once does it ruin the sleeve?

It makes your stomach cramp for some reason. Liquids go straight through the sleeve.

I was a big plain Water drinker pre-op. Post op plain water makes me nauseous. I've tried drinking it warm and cold, both times I take a few sips and get hit with nausea. I get my fluids in by drinking flavored water now. I wish it wasn't necessary, but it is what it is...

I wonder why plain Water makes so many ppl nauseous after? I guess it's better then being fat...I just don't get it

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
