I am almost 4 months out from RNY and now I have to have a hysterectomy!!! I am worried what this will do with my weight loss. I talked to my bariatric doctor who agreed I need to have it done. She said it might slow my weight loss process. I am a slow loser anyways I have lost 52 lbs since surgery and 43 on my 6 month diet before surgery.

I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago. This was obviously before my WLS surgery but I can say my experience then was it through my body into a big hormonal mess. I suffered major hot flashes and it effected my moods. I would definitely work closely with your doctors to try and minimize the effects as much as possible. I didn't want to do hormone replacement as it scared me long term. In retrospect I think I should have.

I don't know how this will effect your weight loss, but be prepared for it to slow down. Your hormones will change and it may take a while for things to even out. I hope you have a safe surgery and quick recovery.

I had RNY surgery 4 months ago and tightened my tubes 4 days ago. Im still losing it. Didnt even know that could bring me any problem to lose weight, anyway had to get my IUD removed through surgery so I went ahead ando got everything done. Good luck for you and Im sure everything will be fine.

Are you keeping your ovaries, or having everything removed? If you have it all taken out, you could slow down losing as you adjust to menopause, but it shouldn't affect you long-term. I had a hysterectomy several years ago, but kept my ovaries. I just had my gastric bypass a couple of months ago, and everything seems fine now. I still ovulate, so I stall a little here and there at certain times of the month, but other than that it's normal.

My advice would be to remember your overall health. There's probably a reason your doctor is recommending the hysterectomy, so don't ignore that even though you want to lose weight! Ignoring women's health issues can lead to bigger problems down the road. Good luck!

I have a mass on my right ovary the other 4 are on or in my utereus. They are doing a full hysterectomy. SO i imagine my weight loss will slow down. I keep telling myself slow and steady wins the race.

It may slow down, or you may be fine. Either way, great attitude to have. Best of luck with the surgery & recovery!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
