Sugar42 49 Posted June 15, 2017 I'm scheduled on the 22nd to take it. I was wondering what would it ask and how long does it take? 2 Rivka7NV and Meguone reacted to this
SeaShells82 96 Posted June 15, 2017 Every practice has a different psych eval process but in general, they're just trying to make sure you understand the lifestyle changes that will be required to be successful after surgery and have support systems in place to help you. Mine was a 1-on-1 interview with the psychologist - took about 30 minutes and it was really just a conversation. It wasn't scary at all. After the appointment I had to do an online assessment which took a bit longer as I think it had over 100 questions (many of them were the same question just asked in a different way though). My practice told me upfront what to expect - you might want to call your surgeon's office and ask for an overview. 1 Sugar42 reacted to this

Redmaxx 740 Posted June 15, 2017 It is all mind over matter. You don't mind and it don't matter. Be truthful. People always think the worst when they hear psych exam. You will do fine. 2 Sugar42 and ProudGrammy reacted to this
Leviosa 26 Posted June 15, 2017 Mine was literally answering a questionnaire ( 400 questions) and then a quick meeting with the therapist. It was nothing too deep or intense. They then "graded" the questionnaire and cleared me. Barring any glaring mental health issues, I think they will clear most people. Don't sweat it! 2 Sugar42 and Meguone reacted to this
Rivka7NV 40 Posted June 16, 2017 Mine was just a get to know you session just to get an idea of your psycho-social background and your thoughts and attitudes today and about your weight loss. They will probably ask you questions about your expectations. No biggie. Just relax and act like you are getting to know someone. 2 Sugar42 and Meguone reacted to this
KateBruin 344 Posted June 18, 2017 Mine had a suuuuper short questionnaire that was maybe 15 questions. Otherwise it was just a 60 minute routine therapy talk session. She asked some basic questions like why surgery, what my fears are, and what kind of support system I have. I technically won't know if she cleared me till Thursday's pre-op but I don't see why she wouldn't besides having a mother who is pulling a "love the sinner, hate the sin" attitude with me. 1 Sugar42 reacted to this
