Mamabear22 8 Posted June 15, 2017 I am 3 weeks post op and started having severe back pains out of nowhere! Anyone else having this issue? My incision where the drainage tube was is severely infected, so am thinking one has something to do with the other possibly???
SeaShells82 96 Posted June 15, 2017 Are the back pains on both sides of your back or just one? I ask because a kidney infection (which can happen when you're dehydrated and most of us are in the beginning because it can be hard to get all our fluids in) can cause lower back or "flank" pain and usually occurs on one side depending on which kidney is affected. Are the pains accompanied by muscle spasms by any chance? If you're walking hunched over because of drains or incisions, sometimes that's enough to irritate your back. No matter what, I'd definitely recommend you call your surgeon and let them know what you're experiencing. They'll be able to guide you better than we can. 2 cyberdiva and sherri~ reacted to this
cyberdiva 47 Posted June 15, 2017 Yes, please. I ended up passing a kidney stone two weeks post op (never had one before) and I was seriously trying to make the liquid requirement.
sherri~ 77 Posted June 15, 2017 I'm pretty sure that I passed a stone about 5 weeks postop although I never sought help. My back hurt for three days and it hurt to go to the bathroom. TMI alert: after about 7 hours of overnight agony, I wiped and there was blood ... I assumed I was starting my period (ugh) but immediately all my pain was gone....Definitely call....I didn't and now I feel like I have undocumented issues. cyberdiva 47 Posted June 15, 2017 I don't think it's TMI. We have to help each other here. (I can type better now versus being on my phone.) Please, everyone, do your best to get in you fluids. There is no, repeat NO pain like kidney stone pain and I ended up evening having surgery and a stint - another event that I never want to repeat!! I didn't see blood - that would have easily confirmed it for me since I'm post-hysterectomy - but the pain was unreal! The stint was . . . indescribable. I just still don't know what to say and this was February 2017. I'm still shook.
