Adding protein shakes

Recommended Posts

PB2 is powdered Peanut Butter. I think you can buy it online. It is good to add into other stuff (like shakes) to give a peanut butter flavor. I think you can reconstitute it to make peanut butter too but I heard it is not as good that way. It is supposed to be great mixed in shakes!

I'm a huge fan of PB2, just got it the other day. It's GREAT! They dry roast peanuts and then remove all the oil. It ends up a powder that looks a lot like brown sugar.

A full serving is two tablespoons and has 54 calories, about 4gms Protein (going on memory here) and a bit of Fiber as well. I only use half a serving because that is just right for me but in chocolate Protein mix? It's GREAT!

Bell Plantation: 4 Pack PB2 ($3.99 each)

The downside is that a minimum order is four jars. But it has a long shelf life. Might want to find someone else that wants to buy it too and split the order.

I use the Body Fortress Protein Powder as well... both the chocolate and vanilla. I mix them with Hood Calorie Countdown (1 cup chocolate: 90 cal, 5 g fat, 5g carb, 8 Protein ~ 1 cup fat free 45 cal, 0 fat, 3g carb, 8 protein) in the blender with a couple of ice cubes and it's like a milkshake... YUM! If I have time in the morning I mix one up, otherwise I'll have a pre-mixed. I can't eat first thing in the morning... so it's a good little protein boost until I get to work and have Breakfast.< /p>

I have tried the Unjury and matrix, and couldn't stomach them. Then Lauren was nice enough to send me some samples of ones she liked.. I tried the nectar fuzzy navel for this morning, and I have to say I finally found one I can tolerate. It's by no means a treat, and I find myself holding my breath during most of it.. BUT.. it's not horrible like the matrix & unjury were to me. I can drink it! I have about 1/3 of the glass left, this is going to be the first time I have ever been able to finish a Protein shake!!! It's like a tangy OJ.. I was thinking of mixing in an oz of OJ with it after it was made. Anyone tried this? Or maybe blending it with a banana for a tropical smoothie type thing. I'm going to experiment with this now that I found a flavor I can use.. time to go buy the 5lb bag lol.

Wasa- was it you that has tried the beneprotein? If so, is it just like benefiber in its magical way to completely dissolve into food?

No, I use Benefiber. Never tried Beneprotein. How much Protein does it have? Do you know what kind of Protein? I can't see how it could be whey protein, that wouldn't dissolve into nothingness the way Benefiber does.

The plateau I posted about in the original post is evidently busted. I am down 2 more pounds and it is staying off.

Me neither, that's why I was asking YOU lol! I thought you were the one who said you tried it.

In any case, I just ordered some from walgreens (I could just go down the road, but I get anxiety looking through their stuff.. bunch of idiots work there).

I'll let ya know how it turns out.

Well, considering I just want to add it to food like I do benefiber to give it a boost to Protein (especially things that are low protein).

Says 1 box thing (which is what I bought) is 192 servings per can. The thing you listed says serving size is 1 scoop which is 25 calories and 6g of Protein.

I don't get what you're saying?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
