So idiot here got on the scale this morning because today is my 3 week post op anniversary. I gained 3 pounds and haven't lost any weight in about 2 weeks. I'm feeling really bad about myself and along with am wondering if I had a botched surgery. I'm past any and all advice at this point and am wondering why I am destined to be an overweight failure. There are no more excuses I can fathom at this point. I am tracking my intake and net at under 1000 calories every day. I'm moving more than the requirement. I'm hungry a lot (like right now) but after one screw up 2 weeks ago have been adhering to the meal list. I'm not sure if I can hold it together; just feel like a failure. Sorry to be a downer. I honestly don't expect any responses--just needed to vent. Thanks for reading.

If you have been exercising a lot, it could very well be muscle mass you have gained. I had problems with Water weight too.

I've read over and over to stay off the scale for the first month. I'm three weeks out too and am stuck as well. I'm just gonna keep doing what they say and trust everyone is right.

Also, I'm hungry too. I'm limiting carbs and eating every couple of hours. I do fill up quickly when I eat.

I thought about contacting my surgeon's office but I didn't want to be met with ridicule or worse--false sympathy. It is comforting to know others have been or are in the same situation. I stayed off my scale but hopped on today since it is my 3 week "anniversary". I wish I hadn't because I am having a very hard time moving on/out of this self pity and loathing I am currently in. Thanks for your responses.

I've lost 8 lbs since surgery three weeks ago. It's so hard not to feel down but since I've been on this forum for a while now I've read repeatedly not to worry the first month that we are still healing and our body will catch up. It's just so different when it's you! I am trying so hard to not let the scale dictate my mood but it isn't easy. I have just started weighing once a week starting this week. Hang in there it's GOT to move eventually.

I'm wondering how you can ingest 1,000 calories at 3 weeks out, though not sure of your surgeon's eating plan. I was barely able to get in 600 calories at 3 weeks. What are you eating in a day?

Same issue for me. You aren't alone! Surgery on May 23rd and at my 1 week post op appointment I had lost 10 pounds. (Because of that dreadful clear liquid diet.) Since then I've lost nothing. I'm not worried too much yet since I hear this is common. I can't imagine how I can still maintain the same weight while only eating 600-700 calories (around 70- 80g protein). Sounds impossible but its happening. Starvation mode maybe? I'm hoping that once I'm cleared to lift weights and do more exercise, it'll break the stall.

I was sleeved on 5/27 and am having a similar problem. I lost 16lbs in the first two weeks but, now I'm stalled. I know it's hard advice to take, but honestly the only thing that seems to the most repeated advice is to just stay off of the scale for the first month. I am going to try my hardest!

I would talk to my surgeon and get some answers never fill like a failure were all learning as we go . I hope things get better

I never experienced any problems with intake after the first week. I drink muscle milk once daily, then I consume Oikos yogurt, refried Beans, pure Protein Bar, sometimes cream of wheat, sometimes sugar free fudgsicle, tuna, sweet potato....

Hi there, first off, please don't beat yourself up like this. You had surgery to better your health, and this is not an easy or smooth process. We still have our temptations and bad habits to overcome. The sleeve helps in that you can only eat so much at once, but we have to put our own work in. If you do mess up, just know what's done is done. The best thing you can do is recover ASAP and learn what you can from it. What caused you to break your diet and what can you do to avoid it in the future? Negative self-talk may lead you down a path of sabotaging yourself.

Regarding the scale, I agree with advice others have posted to stay off the scale the first month. There is just too much going on and you are most likely not getting accurate readings. Just focus on meeting your goals staying active.

I'm at 3 weeks out as well and I definitely feel hunger and temptation now. The good thing is that as soon as I eat a few spoonfuls of my meal, it immediately goes away. So maybe the temptation you feel is just a signal that it's time to eat your regular food? Or maybe you're behind on fluids - sometimes that can mimic hunger. Just a couple of things to consider. Stay focused and be good to yourself :780_sparkling_heart:

I am just about 3 months out... I rarely feel hungry except the first thing in the morning... and I never get in more than 700 - 800 calories a day although I probably could.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
