Hi All, so I am 2.days post op and things are.not turning out as simple as I thought it would. the procedure went great but by the time they got me to recovery it was about 7pm and I would need to be there 2 to 4 hours so they keep me overnight so they could monitor me, I ended staying all day and just when I was going to be release my (never had a high number over 136) blood pressure is up to 170 and my heart rate since this morning is very low, like 45... has anyone else had this issues? so needless to say the would not release my. uugghhh.

Not that I am a medical professional, but many times your blood pressure and pulse will spike because of anxiety or shock. This is temporary probably but you can help things along by doing some deep breathing and meditation.

It's a good thing they kept you. I had the something similar - BP was 150-160/90-100, pulse was 55-60 consistently throughout my hospitalization. By my 2-week follow up appointment my BP was down to 114/66.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
