2 weeks post op and not hungry, is this normal?

Recommended Posts

I had my op 2 weeks ago and although I was told I would have no restriction I am only eating a small amount of food and seem to be full. Is this normal?

I've been told I will need my 1st fill at 6 weeks, but how will i know if I need it or not?

Confused, please help!!

My appetite did come back with a vengence about a month after surgery. That's when I knew it was time for a fill. I think there is some swelling after surgery that gives you the feeling of some restriction. One that goes down, I think, is when you start feeling that nasty hunger demon returning.

Today I am 18 days post-op and my body has told me that it is sick and tired of eating like a bird. I, too, enjoyed feeling full after eating very little in a day but that has all changed in the last day or two. Be careful in how you respond to that hunger. I over ate tonight and I don't feel so good. Feels like I have a rock in my stomach.

I wasn't hungry at 2 weeks either. You will need a fill when a)you aren't losing 1-2 lbs per week  you are unbearably hungry. Otherwise you can hold out. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm enjoying not being hungry at the moment but struggling to get in enough calories. I worked out that I'm only having about 600 - 750 a day and I had a bit of a faint feeling today so will try to up it a bit with juice and stuff.

Interestingly though my sister was banded 18 months ago and didn't have her 1st fill until 6 months. I guess we are all different!!

Enjoy it while it lasts! At about a month postop I could suddenly eat anything and a LOT! The little 10lb I lost is coming back on quickly. Thankfully, I'm going in for a fill this weekend!

I was two weeks post op yesterday and like you, I have not been too hungry. During the Clear Liquids week I wasn't hungry at all. Now I am eating full liquids, I do get the occassional hunger pang, but that is easily negated by Crystal Light or a cup of coffee. I am getting my first fill this coming Monday, which came as a shock to me. From reading here I would have never thought I'd get my first fill within 18 days of the surgery date. Something must be working though, as I am fitting into my "2 years ago" pants as of this morning. They are a little snug, but they button, and that's a lot better than barely getting past my thighs three weeks ago.

I NEVER FELT HUNGRY UNTIL TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN I WAS SEVEN WEEKS POST OP. JUST SHOWS HOW DIFFERENT WE ALL ARE. I CAN EAT ANYTHING AT THE MOMENT AND AM HAVING MY FIRST FILL ON OCT19TH. I FEEL READY FOR IT NOW ALTHOUGH I,M NOT EXPECTING TOO MUCH FROM IT JUDGING BY WHAT I,V READ ON THIS SITE IT SEEMS TO TAKE MULTIPLE FILLS FOR MOST PEOPLE TO FEEL GOOD RESTRICTION, THOUGH THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS OF COURSE. I JUST WANT TO GET THE SHOW ON THE ROAD CO,S NOW ALL THE SWELLING HAS SETTLED DOWN AND THE HUNGER IS BACK IT,S LIKE I HAVN,T GOT THE BAND YET THOUGH I AM TRYING AND SUCCEEDING MOSTLY...LOL TO MAKE GOOD food CHOICES I AM KEEN TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP.:clap2:

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
