Christian bandsters

God bless you all today. I was banded and had my gall bladder out on 12/31/07. Yesterday I went to church. I really had to push myself through out the whole day. I don't know if I tried to do to much or if it had to do with my gall bladder surgery. I just didn't feel good ,kinda weak feeling. It is so encouraging to have a Christian group to relate to.

Karen,

Not sure I would want two things going on at once, but I'm sure it is easier to just have them go in one time. DON'T OVERDO IT!

Is anyone interested in a free trial gym membership? The National Body Challenge by discovery health network has an 8 week body challenge. You get a trial membership good from Jan. 5 - March 2. I signed up last year and decided to buy a membership. I haven't gone as much as I should. And, they are limited on Bally's locations, but if you are anywhere near one, it's fun to have the free membership. My daughter got the free membership with me last year but did not sign up after the 8 weeks. She called me today and asked me to go online and sign her up, she's been gaining weight. So I signed her up today. Just thought it might help someone who might not know about it.

Hello again all. Thanks for all the welcomes and the congrats! I have found reading this thread to be very helpful.

For an update, as of this morning, I am down to 302. Only 3 more lbs to crack that dang 300 barrier I've had for so long.:whoo: My goal was to be around 280-290 for softball when it starts at the end of April. May have to change it to around 250-260:D

If anyone tries to sign up for the National Body Challenge, there is some kind of conflict on their page with the internet explorer. If you use mozilla fire fox it will load correctly.

Good morning from Wi where we finally have some sun today. We have had rain, dense fog, hail, thunder and lightning, and even tonadoes in the past week so this sun is heaven sent.

I'm anxiously awaiting for my 2nd fill next tue. Praying for some restriction. I'm just as hungry now as I was before surgery. Wombat, you came so close to making goal. Hope I can do as well.

You can do it!!!!!!!! Getting some restriction will really help though :)

Weight loss just starts to slow down the closer you get to goal. But then each pound packs a bigger punch on your body at that point!!! One of the girls at goal said that 3-5 pounds was 2-3 clothes sizes. Where right now for me it wouldn't do anything!

You've been doing great - just need a fill :)

I'm going for a fill next week as well; just need a little snugging up. Can't tell it by me today though - I'm tight and lost my lunch but it's TOM and things change.

hugs & prayers,

wombat

hi, I just had my initial consultation with the doctor and will see the lifestyle team tomorrow. My husband is a minister and has been very against gastric bypass for the year or so that I have been thinking about it. I finally had to go ahead and fill out the paperwork for him to look at lap banding seriously. As we were driving to the dr's office, he started crying and said that he is so excited for me to do this. I can't tell you how wonderful that felt!!! He has been supportive ever since. I have loads of questions as to whether this is what the Lord would have us do. Didn't he tell us to take care of our bodies as a living sacrifice? Have I completely screwed up my relationship with God and that is why I can't be diligent enough to lose weight. So many people say it is a matter of faith. I have beat myself up for my entire life believing I had no faith. All I know is that I will die if I don't get this weight off. I know God doesn't want me to die and leave my kids. There, I spit out all that venom. Pray for me as i approach the next few weeks of testing and then surgery.

God Bless you Pepsi!!! You have taken the first step :)

It is fabulous to have your DH support as well.

I, too, used to wonder about my faith if I couldn't put it in God's hands and take care of it. But as it's been said many times on this thread, God gave man the ability to do this procedure so why should we not use it to help us?

I have been with my pastor for 23 years and he supports me on this as well. He knew me back when I was a snotty teenager all the way till I was at 206 at 5'0". Aside from my DH, he has been a big supporter and encourager of my progress.

May God bless you and your family according to His purpose today :)

Hi all,

It's been a few weeks since I have been on here but I am back to say hi and see how everyone is doing. I am now 9 weeks out from surgery as of today. I have lost about 16lbs since my surgery and trying to stay strong. I have involved myself with 2 different bible study groups at church and going to service every Sunday. I think it is the only thing right now getting me through each week.

I have so much on my plate but with God by my side I feel like it all is at least within grasp. I am so blessed to have found a group on this site that not only can be there as a support which knows just what I am going through physically but also spiritually.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening!

God Bless

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
