Dear Phyllser,

I want to thank you for the support you give to the ones who are like me a bit afraid of what it's going to be after the surgery. I pray that God will give me the strengh to do the right thing like eating just 3 times a day because the worst time for me right now is in the evening. I know I eat my emotions and I pray God that he will deliver me from that and that I'm going to be free, no craving in the evening. I know I eat even if I'm not hungry and that's what scare me the most, I don't want to mess it up.

Hi to all Bandster Bros & Sis...

Just have a new date for surgery, Dec. 10th, bout 7 weeks away. Seen that JoannMarie is also December! The change came when we found that our church is doing a benefit concert (Nov. 19th) for our Missions Team next year...with Margaret Becker and Russ Taff! So, prayed and it has all worked out, with a new date!

Hope to meet more sisters getting banded round this time, to walk with JoannMarie & Clempier thru this process and move forward like our forerunners, Phyllser, Brenda, Susan and more! Have a healthy day of blessed choices! He is our refuge!

I agree with Phyl - it is amazing that you can still enjoy some really great food with the band - I have successfully stayed away from bread, Cookies, pastries, sodas, etc. I now eat lots of fish which is really healthy for me. I am working on getting to the 60lb mark by Halloween - which will be my 6 month anniversary - I can't believe it has gone by so quickly! God is good. I would love to reach the 100 lb mark by/before my anniversary date.

Hi Numbrgrl,

What a good point! I am hoping that will also help me, looking forward to new tastes with the new changes! Just not sure I will like spicy much more than now, i.e. if can't drink with it! lol

Congrats on your success...another Sister forerunner with testimony!

Would enjoy your full story anytime to glean/learn from. Have a blessed eve!

Hi to all of you,

Everytime I go on line, first thing I do is to check if I got anything from Christian bandsters. It's a real blessing for me and I always look forward to get anything from you. I go to a small church in a small city in N.-B., Canada. I watch on TV things from US and I see big churches and a lot of Christian people praying our Lord and Saviour. I also know that you're going to go for election pretty soon. I pray that you all pray for God wisdom on which one you're going to put you X. I'm conviced that this election is completely different from the other ones. God is coming soon!!

No matter where you live or where you come from, we're all the same when it comes to surgery like the lapband is.

Right now, I'm waiting for my date. Dr. Savoie told me that as soon as he could get an op. room available, I would be in. I was wondering if someone whould share with me what was you reactions before you got your lapband? Right now, I'm trying to cut down on food because I know I often eat even if I'm not hungry (mostly in the evening). I pray God to deliver me from that before the surgery because I don't want to fail this time. God has to change things between my 2 ears. Please tell me if you're successful in this matter!!!

Hello, i was just banded on the 22 of oct. All is going pretty well and i attribute most of that to the Lord and all my friends prayers. I tried to get into habits before surgery of chewing more thoroughly and slowing down. This helped a lot. I am of course just on liquids right now but am not having any hunger yet. Probably the swelling from surgery. I live in Dallas Texas area. My dr is DR Benavides. They have great aftercare! I will get my first fill on Nov 18th. Hang in there and your turn will come. Remember, I can do all things through Christ.

Election: you are right on! Too many people do not realize the significance, especially spiritual, of this election!

Pre-op work... yes, get your body ready for change in eating habits, and your head ready, too! Head hunger is a big battle! We are OVERCOMERS!

Hi morph521,

I'm so glad to hear from you and how you feel so soon after surgery. Thanks to our Lord, he takes care of his children. I didn't know how long it would take before the first fill. I really pray God to help me to do the right things. Like trying to eat less and my worst time is after supper until I go to bed. Are you struggling with that? Hope to hear from you soon.

Dear Phyl,

I really can feel you're a women of wisdom. How did you get over that battle in you head? Because I've been struggling with that for years. I pray our Lord to set me free from those thoughts.

You are so right about this election being so important. I just need to remember God is in control. I was reading a lot of the political threads here and got tired of all the negative bantering, I get enough of the negative ads on TV. I already voted by mail.

The head stuff was/is the hardest part of bandster living. Each time I have gotten in trouble getting something stuck, etc. has been when my mind convinced me to have that one more bite. Also I stuffed a lot of feelings down with food. Don't do that anymore so am feeling so many more emotions. At first it was scary but it does get easier. The lows are lower, but the highs are higher! Remember chew chew chew and tiny bites! The told me pencil eraser size bites and try to practice chewing 30 times to get an idea of how much you should chew.

Hi Momma Klunker,

I know the feelings, I'm waiting right now for the date of surgery. I'll sure pray for you because I know how much it can mean to you to have that surgery. For me, it's like a dream come true but still waiting for the final result. God bless you.

Hi Long2bThin,

Thank you for your respond. You seems to know pretty well the battle of the mind. How do you manage that battle of the mind? What do you say to yourself or what do you do? How do you cope with all those emotions that you use to calm with food? Right now, that's my biggest fear not the surgery itself. I have no problem with the chewing because even now they told me I eat slow and it take me long to have my lunch at school. (I'm a teacher).

Hope to hear from you soon.

Well I don't really have a cut and dry answer to that one. I allow myself to feel the emotions that I used to stuff down with food. It was hard at first. I distract myself or I remember what it feels like to get somethng stuck and how much that can hurt. I guess just knowing I can't, I don't. Not sure if that's much help and I am by no means perfect at this. But I just got done with a week long visit with my parents and went through all sorts of emotions. I had a real down day or so. I prayed a lot, and tried to keep busy. Plus I remind myself how far I've come and how I don't want to go back.

Hi Long2bThin,

Thank you so much and God bless you with all kinds of blessings and surprises that only Him can give. Today is Sunday and I usually go to church but for some reasons, I knew I had to stay home. My husband is gone to church and my daughter is at her friend's place. God gave me a time of rest because I was pretty tired. Being a teacher takes a lot of my time. It's not a job from 8 to 5, I see myself working a lot of time until 10:00 or 10:30 at nights. Staying home gave me also a time alone with God and I crave for those moments with Him. I know in my heart that he's the only one who can change my thinking and He'll be there to get me through all difficulties. He also gives people like you who went through the surgery and can help others by listening and answer questions we might have. Thank you so much.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
