I can believe it. I've had it since I was a kid. Before surgery I ate a ton of Fiber to help me. I've started taking fish oil capsules again, I take Dr.'s script for a laxative, and I've started adding ground flax seed. Last night I added Psyllium Husk, just a teaspoon because it expands with Water and you need to drink a of Water with it for it to do its work. I ate some broccoli and a little fruit today, but Fiber works better for me. Some people are recommending Miralax-a laxative, and others are recommending Kashi products. Have to be careful of the calories with Kashi.

On vacation, so falling behind... just read last two pages of posts. Someone asked for Breakfast ideas. At home DH usually makes me a small eggbeaters omelet. But here without him, I'm on my own and I can't be bothered cooking something! I know, I'm a spoiled brat. So I've been eating one of those little Lite & Fit yogurts... 60 calories, mixed up with about 1/4 cup of Kashi Go Lean Crunch... a little less than 50 calories (190 calories per cup).

Had a great weekend in Canada with some LBT "Lucky #7's" celebrating our 2 year "bandiversary". We had such fun. Went to Elvis Festival.... and Elvis Church at a hockey arena with fake floor over the ice. It was COLD in there. Four Elvis impersonators sang Elvis gospel songs and a lady Anglican minister in her elegant robes preached a short sermon on the loaves and fishes story. She said "maybe it was a miracle", or maybe it was this or maybe it was that!! That's not what MY Bible says, but, whatever!! The Elvis guys did speak the truth, though and offered an opportunity for salvation.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for breakfast idea. Maybe it will help me with my Constipation problem. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation in Canada. We have beautiful sceneries and people are well known for their hospitalities. If you ever have the chance to come to the Maritimes, it's a must.

Thank you again, and God bless you.

Hi to all,

I got my first fill last Monday (July 20th) and I thought that it would solve my problem (eating to much in the evening) but it didn't. That really disturb me and I couldn't understand why. Plus I started to deal with Constipation which I never had so one more thing to deal with. The " restaurant closes at 8" was the perfect idea. So, I was preparing myself to close the restaurant at 8, did completly the opposite. I couldn't stop eating even with my band. Last evening, same thing. Couldn't understand why and of course I wasn't proud of myself and I then, negative thoughts about myself started. I realized just this morning that my period is going to start pretty soon so I knew why. On top of that, my emotions are high sky. It doesn't take much for me to cry.

On top of that, we're suppose to go camping this week end. It's the only week end my husband is going to have this summer and I'm going to have my period . Yesterday, I went for my 1 hour walk and I had a hard time to do it. I was poop out for the rest of the day. I did a bit but not much. The cleaning I was planning to do did happen. So, this evening I'll try again to close the restaurant at 8.

Then, because of constipation, of course when I weight myself the scale goes up, not down. My head knows all the reasons why I gain and not lose but my emotion doesn't want to understand.

Since May 20th, I lose 30 pounds and a bit more but it doesn't go down as fast as I would. I had in my mind that I would hit onederland before I go back to school so it means I have to lose 15 pounds before August 31st. I have so many things to change in my life. I even say to God that I don't even know myself which one I want first. I start a lot of things, I'm all pump up like exercising everyday, clean the house so every room stay clean, stop eating before 8, be ready for the school year (all my intervention plans done, my classroom ready, works ready for my students who need specific curriculuums, etc), and more.

I then said to God, "You know better than me so please, do what's best for me". Maybe, more wisdom?

Hi,Clempier

Hang in there, as women we get one huge roller coaster ride every month. I won't even weigh myself one week before or one week after my period becuase I know with Water weight I'll be up,but then a week after my weight is back down. The weight gain even though its temporary "freaks" me out so for my sanity and my husabands i don't weigh. You are trying to juggle a lot of balls at once sister don't forget to pick your battles.

God bless you, Book

Clempier pre-menstrual syndrome and Constipation and your lap band hasn't yet reached the sweet spot. Don't beat yourself up sweetie. Tell your Dr. you've got no restriction at night. Get set up for another fill. Perfectionism is deadly and is part of our disease. It sets us up for failure. Take some Vitamin D, get some sun, and tell yourself you're doing as well as can be expected. Are you taking a good Multi-Vitamin with Iron? Are you taking Calcium? You're going to be all right.

Hey guys, just wanted you to see this video of a student I taught who has an incredible story. I teach at-risk students at a Christian school on the South Side of CHicago. I taught Arthur how to read and do math. You can see me teaching him on the video. I helped interview him but you can't hear my voice. This is part of the reason I had lap band surgery. I didn't want to have to retire early from teaching at a job I find so meaningful.

Hi everyone.

Time to get this thread going again. People check it looking for hope and help. As Christians they're already beating themselves up for having this disease and accusing themselves of gluttony and sloth and who knows what all, not understanding that that's the Accuser talking and not God. We have a disease that may require a medical solution. The guilt should lie in not using the means God has provided through modern medicine to help us. The band is a tool, a medical intervention that is proving to be a medical miracle. I am a 57 year old woman with ADHD/ADD who has recently found out that ADHD/ADD women with food addiction would be voted least likely to succeed by scientists studying those with obesity who are receiving behavioral and nutritional help to try to lose weight. We can't plan meals, keep a food journal, count calories, carbs, or points, for any length of time. Thank God for my band.

Hi ifyourstomachoffendsyou,

Thank you so much for sharing that video with us. As you know, I'm a ressource teacher in a public school but I do a similar job than you, here in New-Brunswick Canada.

Not long ago, I was asking God what was my purpose here on this earth for Him. The answer was "You do what I ask you to do . . . teaching the kids I give you and love them the way they are."

I also realized that I was really good at hitting myself on the head which I don't do with my students.

I have to take whatever I want to change in my life one at a time. Right now, I'm praying God to help me to eat just what I'm allowed to eat in the evening (because of my diabetes) and stop there. Check if I want to eat because I'm hungry or if I want to eat my emotions and if so what is that emotion. I realized I have a hard time to pin point why I want to eat. Usually, went I know the reason of something I can deal with it otherwise it's hard to change something your not even aware of.

I don't want to fail this time but I need God and prayers. If someone has any ideas to help me I would appreciate. Like the ones who lose over 100 pounds, how did you do it? I have no one to talk to around here, I'm the first patient who got the LB in Bathurst.

Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Sorry to sound like a cliche - but you do it one day at a time. Each day brings its own challenges, frustrations, disappointments, etc. We just need to learn to surrender to God - in all areas of our life. So many times we view the word "surrender" as giving up or being defeated - but think about it - when we finally give up our own ways and surrender to God - this is when the VICTORY starts!!!! Our act of surrender brings us to Victory with Him - because we are no longer leading.....He is. Keep the faith ladies!!!

Try Activia Yogurt - it really works for digestion issues.

There are so many reasons we eat. Part of it is we're wired that way. Some of the additional issues I've identified in my life are being ADD/ADHD, codependent, chronic pain, and depression caused by all these things. I really get into the details on all these issues in my blog at IF YOUR STOMACH OFFENDS YOU, TIE IT OFF

Just click on it and start reading it from the beginning on June 10. Maybe you want to start your own blog or journal to explore your own issues. Abuse is often a contributing factor as well. It can be emotional, physical, spiritual, or sexual abuse.

ADHD/ADD women get extremely bored in the evenings when their projects are done so they use food to stimulate themselves in the evenings. Find something that totally grabs your attention, a hobby, swimming, journaling, walking, whatever will keep you so absorbed you won't think about food.< /p>

Try Benefiber it doesn't get thick and they even have the sugar free .. I use two teaspoons everyday in my tea or Protein shake.. I swear by it .. Try too to stay away from cheese..

Hope this helps oh and drink lots of Water ...

I second that! I have Benefiber in my Crystal Lite every day. Just came back from a two week trip to NY. Didn't want to take the powder so decided to try the chewable sugar free tabs. They taste pleasant and I may switch to that when my powder is gone. Also recommended it to my uncle, who was complaining of bowel problems and he's now a believer! In Benefiber, that is! A REAL "Believer"?? Not so much!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
