Austinmadams227 4 Posted June 13, 2017 Hello all I had my surgery 3/6/17 and I've lost 70 pounds so far, but I'm having trouble with foods still so the doctor believes that I have a stricture that needs dilated. Has anyone had the endoscope with balloon dilation? I'm a little worried but I'm excited to feel better tooSent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app
Rae5148 28 Posted June 13, 2017 I have had 6 dilations and I'm scheduled for my 7th Wednesday. They don't hurt and definitely open everything up, unfortunately they don't last for me too long. I had a. Stent placed in April but it failed and I needed up in the hospital for four days before it was removed. I am having another one placed in a few weeks hoping this time it will work. The dilation are the only thing that has gotten me through. I had a twisted sleeve plus two persistent strictures. And at some points can't even swallow Water or Protein Shakes. Did your dr order an esophagram? I have had three of those as well to see how opened everything is.I had my sleeve end of October and have only lost 60 pounds. Good work! 1 Austinmadams227 reacted to this

Good work!I'm lucky that I've lost this much so quick, I haven't been able to exercise much due to gout from thyroid levels. Not sure about the esophagram. I haven't had any issues other than this and having an extra 6in incision :/ hopefully this will help me. Thanks for your story and good luck to youSent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app 1 alligus reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 13, 2017 I had two - one at four weeks out and one at eight weeks out. The balloon dilation is easy peasy and I felt better right away 1 Austinmadams227 reacted to this
CMK1012 7 Posted June 21, 2017 when does the risk for stricture go away? Is it something more common in the beginning or ten years from now it could still happen?

Is it something more common in the beginning or ten years from now it could still happen? they almost always occur within the first three months after surgery. They're pretty rare after that (according to my surgeon). 1 CMK1012 reacted to this
