Myaiku_Kuraitani 245 Posted June 12, 2017 So, I'm six weeks post op. I'm wondering if it's normal for my hunger to be back so soon? It seems like as soon as I started taking meds for nausea, it started up. I've tried looking up the topic but I felt like nothing answered my question. Nothing is satisfying my hunger either, not even meat.< /p>I get hungry every half hour or hour. Sometimes less. I'm not drinking with my meals anymore. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or just not eating enough.... ----------------------------HW- 273Pre-op Wt- 230SW- 226CW- 197GW- 130Ht- 5'2.5"DOS- April 26th, 2017"Only those who try will become." ~FFX
James Marusek 5,244 Posted June 12, 2017 I did not experience this. In looking it up on the internet, there appears to be a correlation between nausea and hunger. Nausea with hunger is a well known symptom. It may precede the borborygmi (stomach noises like rumbling and growling) that is associated with the strong stomach muscle contractions, which we commonly refer to as hunger pangs. In fact these hunger pangs may arise as late as 12 to 24 hours after the last meal. Excessive salivation, constantly thinking about food and even lightheadedness and fatigue that is associated with hunger may be later symptoms than nausea. http://www.healthhype.com/nausea-and-hunger-sensations-causes-and-conditions.html Nausea and vomiting are the most common complaint after bariatric surgery. This condition may be due to an ulcer. And ulcers can produce hunger. If that is the cause, then the general advice is to avoid NSAIDs, use a proton-pump inhibitor and have yourself tested for Helicobacter pylori infection. 2 Mama V and lindabalseca reacted to this

Generally speaking: The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. Food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight. Are you having any difficulty meeting your vitamin, fluid and protein daily requirements? It's mostly my Vitamins and my protein requirements that I'm struggling with. I haven't found vitamins that sit well with me... And eating meat causes so much discomfort.----------------------------HW- 273Pre-op Wt- 230SW- 226CW- 197GW- 130Ht- 5'2.5"DOS- April 26th, 2017"Only those who try will become." ~FFX
James Marusek 5,244 Posted June 12, 2017 I did not transition to solids foods such as steak and chicken until week 9. It is a difficult transition. No need to rush it. I found that softer foods such as chili and Soups went down much easier so that is what I primarily stayed with. I put some recipes at the end of the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf 3 Joann454, blondie66 and Myaiku_Kuraitani reacted to this
