I am looking for anyone who has had the Endoscopic Sleeve surgery that can give me details and result information. Cost information? Thank you in advance.

I have been looking into the endoscopic sleeve, along with the laproscopic, and have not made up my mind yet. I was quoted $15k for the endoscopic sleeve from Johns Hopkins. There are not many institutions that do them yet and I'm slightly concerned about the lack of long term outcomes data available.

Please share any information you get!

I would LOVE to chat with someone who has had the procedure done.

I was originally scheduled for Endoscopic sleeve in March with Dr. Sadek in NJ. The cost for self pay was $9000 and included all the appts / out patient facility. I wound up cancelling though because I have a lot more weight to lose than the endo sleeve averages. Hopefully someone has first hand experience for you! I did a lot of searching for info on it and couldn't find much beyond what my Dr. told me.

I honestly think the Endoscopic Sleeve merits its own forum with increasing amounts of posts regarding those having or considering it.

Long term data is a concern, but it's the same thing with the laparoscopic vertical sleeve gastrectomy. However, there's a lot more fantastic short term data for the latter, which is why it's quickly surpassing bypasses.

You might even be able to find institutions/researchers that give you a discounted cash rate if you agree to long-term followup for data collection. Personally, I wouldn't do it because it's so new and the incisions are like my gallbladder ones and they weren't a big deal. I have scars but already had two 6" ones from back surgery.

Why are you thinking endoscopic vs laparoscopic?

@KateBruin there are no incisions with Endoscopic. There is no cutting involved. No down time. In and out the same day.

I got a quote of $9100 here in the Houston area. I'm shocked that a new surgery would cost so much. Although there isn't much history on the Endoscopic Sleeve version, it is very similar to Vertical Sleeve and the Plication. People have had results with it. However, I would expect it to cost so much less since there is no cutting or overnight stays at the hospital. So I'm looking vertical sleeve again but weighing my options.

I know. For some reason my part saying the sleeve scars are the same as my gallbladder and not a big deal got cut off. My point still stands that I wouldn't want to be a guinea pig for endoscopic

Do they pull the stomach out of your mouth? Most stomachs are quite large.

They don't actually cut anything. They stitch the stomach together using 3 stitches in a plane (triangle), then pull it together. So it looks very similar to the vertical sleeve from the inside of the stomach, but you have folded over stomach that is sealed and unusable. This seems like a good video:

I think it looks promising, but I wonder if people will get infections or some adverse effect to having the skin folded over, for example, what if food makes it way in there and gets trapped?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
