Holy Dumping Syndrome, Batman!

Recommended Posts

For me it lasted about 45 minutes...Once I vonited it, it was gone. I had a minor foamie aabout 2-3 hours after the first one and, again, once I vomited, it was gone.

I did throw up , was sweating and shaky. I still have cramps and am belching like crazy.

Now that I have been home it's better. I have been having an issue with Protein Shakes though and that was scary. We haven't determined if I have an issue with whey or lactose but either way I have tried multiple brands, multiple types of Protein, different ways to prepare it I.e blended, milk, Water and after literally the first drink hits my stomach I'm doubled over in pain. I didn't take a single pain pill since the day before I left the hospital, I have been good not even really sore, but my husband finally convinced me to take one Friday because I was doubled over in pain crying, and sweating with chills. My first thought was am I dumping off a zero fat zero sugar Protein Shake? Then my next thought was do I have a structure or blockage? But I literally can drink everything else, eat yogurt, and creamed Soups. After Talking with the dr they took me off protein shakes and told me to attempt to advance my diet a few days early. So since Friday I have been on blended/mashed foods and it's going well! eggs never tasted so good ha ha! I mean I still have a little bit of the "what the hell did I do?" But I think as I can get in a more normal routine especially with my family and meals it will make all the difference. It's a good motivator though that I have lost 17lbs since the Friday before my surgery! Tomorrow is 2 weeks. I know that it's most drastic at first and thats fine but it's just amazing to me. I also have a good friend that had the surgery about 6 years ago and she has done amazing things! She motivated me for sure.

Did the protein shakes that made u sick have sucralose? I couldn't stomach the first year. Atkins shakes have it and it would make me dump.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
