BubbleSam 87 Posted June 11, 2017 I am 6 weeks post op and in the soft food stage. Friday night was my first time going out with my entire family. My nephew just turned 17 so dinner and cake is the party. I have to say I did very well and didn't have much issue with everyone eating what I used to. I have to say I was beside myself with how much they all ate and it made me really see how out of control I was when I was able to eat whatever I wanted. It was such an eye opener for me.... 3-4 baskets of chips and salsa, fries on top of fries, burgers, fried chicken and then cake... I have to say I thought I would miss that or feel left out. That was not the case, in fact I loved my dish I got from the lighter menu and put almost all of it away in a to go box when it was served. I was stuffed from my 4 bites and couldn't have been happier. Watching my whole family eat everything else made me want to try to make them realize the choices they were making... considering they are all over weight as well.... though they are mostly supportive of me and my journey they don't have the same outlook or understanding of how food got us to this point in our lives.... I seem to be the only one changing and I guess that's ok... I just wish they would try to make better choices to get healthy too. I want my family to be healthy and happy.... but I can only be responsible for myself. 2 Please and ladygg1967 reacted to this
BusyLizzie 2 Posted June 12, 2017 Good for you! I am in the soft food stage and went to a work lunch last week. I ordered fish, as it seemed to be the "softest" Protein there. It was ok, I guess. The big test for me came with Desserts - which have always been my downfall; I shared dessert with two colleagues and it was the first time I'd had sugar since prior to the pre-op diet. I had three spoonfuls and really enjoyed what I had, but figured if I ate more, I'd start to feel sick and/or regret it. I was SO proud of myself for not turning into a sugar-seeking monster (which I had feared) and that I could have a small quantity but still really enjoy it. It's so lovely to have these kind of "victories" over food like this. 2 penelope75 and ladygg1967 reacted to this

I had 2 small bites of cake and I was good. A lot of people from my support group I go to say as long as you only have a bite or two it's okay. This whole journey I feel like is making a new relationship with food. [emoji847] 2 ladygg1967 and BusyLizzie reacted to this
tabula 54 Posted June 12, 2017 That's awesome, feels good doesn't it. I have the same feelings about watching people eat and I have to catch myself and realize without my WLS, I'd being doing the same thing! I was at D&B and my sister's meal was 1,500 cals and I'm like that'd take me two days to eat!!! Fortunately, I don't really have any cravings and hope it stays that way for a long time. Right now some Deli Turkey and Cottage cheese gets me through the day Congrats! 1 ladygg1967 reacted to this
