I was in the hospital for 2 nights. I was ready to go back home after 1.

The weekend staff at a hospital is different than the weekday staff. I had my surgery on Friday. I would have been better off scheduling it for the early or mid part of the week, in which case I might have gone home after a 1 nights stay.

Everyone is different. I was up and walking every two hours after surgery, round the clock. I took no pain meds after I left the recovery room. Didn't need to. Others crawled out of their hospital beds for the first time a couple days after surgery. They tended to stay longer.

I stayed 3 nights, which I was happy about. I was especially glad to have the IV in so I didn't have to worry about or risk dehydration right after surgery. I also had no nausea or pain as it was very well managed in the hospital.

I actually just posted this a couple days ago but I guess I posted in the wrong section...

But my nurse told me I will most likely be staying over night! My surgery is scheduled for 12:30pm, and I'll probably check out around 8am the next morning.

Kind of panicking because I'm not sure that's enough time!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
