It depends on when your surgeon officially clears you to start exercising.

The people at my surgeon's office cleared me for all types of exercising (aerobics and weight training) at 6 weeks post-op. I didn't resume exercise until 3 months post-op.

I started with a walk/jog routine. Two years later I run 5 days per week, either outdoors or on a treadmill. I also lift free weights as heavy as possible 3 times a week.

I went from 40+% body fat to just under 18%, which is in the lean range for a female.

You can do light walking as soon as you wake up, and increase it gradually. At first it's basically about making sure you don't tear your sutures. Can't lift more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks. No clue what I'll do about my 25 lb dog! At about 6 weeks most people are cleared for full workouts but obviously start slow, especially if you were sedentary before surgery.

I discussed this with my nut before I left Mexico and I was cleared to use the elliptical or treadmill at 3 weeks post-op, before that walking was encouraged. I will be able to use weights at 6 weeks if I want to.

You're reading a lot of varying timelines. The second day I was home from the hospital I got on the treadmill. I started at a very easy pace, for maybe 10 minutes. The next day was 11 minutes. Twelve the next. Ab work later. Discover what you're safely capable of. Start simple & forgive yourself if you aren't ready. Good luck.

I was cleared at 3 weeks post op for everything as long as I listened to my body. I had a pain on my right side for a couple of weeks (2&3) and had to take it easy, but it's gone now and I've been doing heavy weights, minus the abs for now. I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
