Dr. Kent - Brunswick

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.

I am very new to this forum. I live in Savannah but have been speaking to Dr. Kent's office in Brunswick for the lapband. Probably won't be until November or later to get the surgery. I wish that it was quicker.

Does anyone know of a good doc in Savannah that has had success with the lapband?

Looking forward to your input as I start on this journey.

My son just had surgury in Brunswick but not with Dr.Kent. We were very disappointed how everything went. The aninst. talked down to us when we tryed to explain my son had a reaction to the anatestia.(spelling) then when he went into surgury they told us it would be about one and a half hours and gave us a beeper if they needed us. Well we walked half way around the hospital to the cafateria, got our food and the beeper went off. We ran back up there thinking something had gone wrong and it was a mistake they beeped us. So we went back to the cafateria and 20 minutes later they beeped us again and this time he was out of surgury. He was so sick afterwards. The nurses acted like he was being a baby about it while he was trying to throw up in recovery. After being there 2 hours we reluctenly left as he was really feeling bad. We lived 2 hours away. When we got home he got worse, we called the dr. and he said to come back, he had to take Fluid out of the band as it was too tight and immediatly he felt relief. They said there was confusion with the nurses as to why he was trying to throw up. He dosent' blame the dr.s and says everyone makes mistakes but we were very unhappy not to mention scared.

Mel - I live in Douglas and had my surgery in Albany. Had a great experience, they really know what they're doing. Anyway, last time I was in Savannah I noticed that a group out of Memorial Hospital that was now doing lapband - have you checked into them?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
