sorry for all your troubles. You CAN do This! I went to Mexico and had mine done. No one could go with me so i did it alone. Even flying 2 days after surgery alone. The laparoscopic surgery really is quick healing. I was able to do everything slowly but i could. I did not have kids only myself to attend to. Have everything you need for eating after surgery pre made and ready before surgery. I was walking a mile by day 5 and off all pain med. You can do this. Have your cell phone and talk to people for encouragement! I wish you the best.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. First off, I would inform your surgeon of your situation. I am sure he/she would want to know your what you are facing in your life at this time, before your surgery is performed. This is major surgery and we all want to have a smooth and safe recovery. Wishing you the best. Stay strong,

I'm single. I had surgery and live alone. It isn't hard. Just have premise Protein Shakes.

The surgery will be the easy part. Make sure you will be safe/have a plan for if the person gets out of jail.

I also went to Mexico by myself, and had no troubles. When I got home, I wasn't alone, but instead of them taking care of me, it created MORE work for me taking care of them. You'll be just fine!

Do make sure you have a ride home from the hospital, and enough food on hand that you don't need to shop for a few days. Get your approved foods (drinks, really) list now, so you can prepare.

Good luck!

You are stronger without him than with him. I am doing this alone. You can do this alone. Don't bring him back for your recovery thinking you will be able to get rid of him later or that he has changed. I guarantee you that your stomach will become a target the first time he gets angry or resentful.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been stated here. You are strong and you can absolutely do this! Wishing you all the best. Please speak with your surgeon or nurse about the situation. And please be safe! Keep us posted.

You're a strong person, thanks for encouragement and I hope now everything is ok on your life path.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
