Help! I'm on my last day of full liquids...15 days post-op. My wonderful hubby wants to take me out to the movies! We're big movie goers, and always have the popcorn and pop. Do you all have any suggestions I can snack on during the film? I would really appreciate it....thanks

Babybel cheese, yogurt, Water with Crystal Light. I bring stuff into the theater all the time. If it fits in my purse, I will bring it. Another option might be to eat before you go and forego the Snacks. Disassociate movies with snacking. If not, there are healthy options.

Great suggestion! Removing food as a centerpiece of social interactions has been a key to my success pre- and post-op.

I hear you! When we go out to dinner, I really miss having a salad before the dinner comes. It is such a waste of stomach space. I will usually have a bite or two of my hubby's salad but don't get my own anymore. We still eat when we socialize but I know how uncomfortable it is to have one bite too many and I don't want to go there. Sometimes I have a chicken strip, sometimes I have grilled salmon, but most of the time I make the healthiest choice.

I'm fortunate that my hubby couldn't care less about movie theater popcorn. It was my love. We just get drinks at the theater now. Sometimes he sneaks in a candy bar and I'll have half an Atkins bar as my treat.

Drink Water. I usually buy a bottle of water. Even though they only sell that nasty tap water Dasani.

Sometimes I drink coffee. If you call ahead they will brew a pot for you so you don't have to wait when you get there.

You might as well get used to making good choices with what is available to you, and not sneaking food into the movie theater.

Nicer movie theaters have Brussel sprouts and other things that are bariatric friendly.

Post-op life is easy if you understand nutrition and your nutritional needs. You can find something to eat/drink almost everywhere if you understand the basics.

I will do a salad with no lettuce. I like all the salad fixings, chicken, bacon, onions, cheese, dill, tomatoes, Beans, peppers and a bit of dressing.

My wife has a purse. I utilize this, have her use a large purse for carrying big things, and buy food and stuff it in her purse. Sometimes I'll bring a backpack with a bladder bag full of Water with a 5 foot straw. Nobody says anything. If they did, I show them the bladder bag of water. What are they gonna do? Sell me a bunch of non-shitty tap water and I'll buy it.

I still go to the movies. If I want a snack I bring it with me.

Either a Protein Bar, box of raisins or nuts.

I always bring a bottle of Water. In the past I would need 2 or 3 now I am lucky to drink the 1 during a movie.

Get a Water to drink and bring along a bag of Jerky. I have a dehydrator and have become a Jerky Connoisseur. Have made about every variation I can think of and substitute Splenda in place of sugar in the marinades when called for. Be it beef, pork, chicken, turkey, or deer, it's a great source of Protein and next to 0 carbs.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
