I have a quick question..I think anyway. I am on the 2 week pre-op diet consisting of liquids and some Proteins. I went away camping this weekend and found myself cheating due to circumstances and lack of "healthy" food that I was allowed to eat. :car: Does anyone know if this will need to postpone my surgery?

Most likely no , i cheated on my 2 week pre op diet , i was high protien low carbs, just get back on track.

My doc said my liver looked fabulous! , it shrank just fine.

Next time, take your own food with you . But get back on track NoW LOL

You should be fine. Based on the posts from other threads, not all doctors require a strict pre-op diet. I am not on one either. So, if you cheated this weekend, I'm sure you're fine.

I don't think it will hurt. The majority of probably do cheat a little. Just get back on track.

I've heard other people say that you can have a last meal the night before surgery because it would by then be too late to undo the benefit to the liver of the pre-op diet. Has anyone done this and did it hurt?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
