How long did it take to shower after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I couldn't shower for two days after surgery. That was due to the IV and catheter. Finally when I was cleared to be discharged the nurses removed the IV and catheter and I was able to shower.

Two days for me as well. It wasn't easy but it felt great. I couldn't bend down to shave my legs for about five days.

I showered the morning after in the hospital. I was told before surgery to bring my own shower supplies because they expect you to shower the next morning.

I had no cath or anything.

I did have my husband help me. It reminded me of my first post-baby birthing shower. I was super sore, couldn't move freely, but I was able to get everything cleaned and dressed in my going home clothes.

I wasn't even in the hospital 24 hrs. I'd read they have people shower but they just let me wash my face and brush my teeth.

Ohh, I guess I will try to shower. I am on two pain pills because of how intense the gas pain is.
(I have a dent where I think the damaged fat deposit isIMG_2182.JPG . It hurts, like a muscle being stretched too much.

Your surgeon should have given you instructions stating when you're good to shower. I was allowed the day after surgery.

I was allowed the day after but was instructed to keep my back to the shower head for the first week. I think that was so that the Water didn't pressure wash the glue off.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
