Hi..would like some advice

Recommended Posts

:car: Hi. I have had my lap band surgery almost a month ago..4 weeks this wednesday, One monthe on the 12th and I was wondering some things. My Dr. is in Mo(des peres)St. Louis area, and he is great, but sometimes I think I could get faster answers on something like this than waiting for a call later on, you know? Anyway..

I have been feeling hungry the past week...and sometimes, too hungry. I am following the diet, and eating the protien suggested, but sometimes it is not enough. And then I eat some more.. And since I have to wait to drink...boy old habits die hard sometimes! I know it takes time, and I was so proud for the first 2 weeks I lost 11 lbs...but now I feel like I put them back on. I my have had "false hopes" and was hoping every two weeks that 11 lbs. would fall off...:rolleyes:It was a nice dream. Anyway, anyone else have this feeling? These moments? It is all new to me and I would appreciate any/all comments made. Thanks for your time...Fran

I got my band on August 27th, so I am just a little ahead of you as far as time goes. When I was at your point, yes, I could have chewed my leg off. I was miserable and scared to death to eat too much. When i went on solid food, it did help. I will be getting my first fill on Friday, Oct. 12. I have lost a total of 30 pounds. My dr. said that is an average of 1.4 pounds a week and it will improve after my fill.

Yes, I miss drinking my ice tea with my meal. Ice tea is my beverage of choice. I will drink ice tea even if it is 20 degrees outside!!!

So, what you are feeling is normal. Just hang in there and keep up the good work!!! Clara

Fran you are not alone - after the swelling goes down from surgery you will be able to eat more - I could eat 1 - 2 cups food per meal. My suggestion to you is that you make healthy food choices from now until you get your fill - even if you over eat veggies - it's alot better that eating Cookies and you will get tons more for the calories - When I am extra hungry I eat extra veggies (squash, green Beans, broccoli etc) I limit myself to 1/2 cup - rice - Pasta - potates - I eat 4 oz of fish and 1 to 2 cups veggies when starving - if you want sweets - try healthy choice sf fudgecicles - 80 c 4 grms Protein - sf choc pudding 60 c 2 grms protein..

Good luck...

I was banded on 10/1 and I am already starving- I am starting on mushie food at the end of the week, so I hope it helps- I guess I thought there would be a feeling of more resistance with just the band-It sounds like I won't feel the benefit of the band until the first fill and until then, we just need to be careful- Is that what most of you do??

Please help!!

I think we have all gone through the " I`m so hungry i could eat the family dog" stage. It does get better once you start getting fills. Donna

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
