socalgal3 4 Posted October 16, 2007 Mitchell- Even though I have suffered a serious complication(slip requiring additional surgery). I am still very grateful to have my band. I think the complication actually helped me because I almost lost my band and realized how bad I needed to keep it. Sure, there are days I miss my ex-best friend-FOOD. Sure, there are days I don't want to exercise or chew, chew, chew and chew some more! The day I pay my surgery bill always sucks, but I spent more over the years on diet foods, products, books, etc. But, those are trivial things compared to being healthier. My knees don't hurt like they did, my back doesn't hurt, I don't get out of breath going up the stairs, etc. It isn't always easy, but it's always worth it! ConnieC 0 Posted January 22, 2008 Woild I do it again? Well lets see...Right off the bat I had to stay extra day in the hospital due to several hernias I dident know I had, and had to be repaired when I got banded, 10 day later my port incision ruptured and spewed saline and old blood, had to be tested for infection, fear of port replacment, antibiotics, port site took 4 weeks to totaly heal and stay closed, went for 2 fill in six weeks and Dr. Schmitt was certain my port was tryin to flip, yesterday was my 3rd fill and my port is fine and I WOULD DO IT ALL AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT!!! I have lost 35 lbs in 11 weeks and am off 2 meds todate. I just never sweated the small stuff!! Connie
lherstine 0 Posted January 22, 2008 I WAS BANDED ON OCT.16,07 AND I HAVE LOST 62 lbs INCLUDING PRE-OP WEIGHT, I WENT INTO THE HOLIDAYS WONDERING IF I WOULD FEEL DEPRIVED FROM ALL THE GOODIES THAT ARE AROUND BUT I NEVER ONCE FELT DEPRIVED. IF I WANT A HAMBURGER, I HAVE ONE BUT NOT ON A REGULAR BASIS AND I CAN ONLY EAT A COUPLE OF BITES OR I SKIP THE BUN AND JUST EAT EVERYTHING ELSE. AT CHRISTMAS WE WENT TO A SWEETS ONLY dinner FOR OUR CHURCH. I JUST HAD A TEASPOON OF A COUPLE OF THINGS AND coffee AND I DIDN'T GAIN ANYTHING!!! I STILL WAS ABLE TO ENJOY/NOT OFFEND AND HAVE SOME GOODIES. DON'T LOOK AT IT AS BEING RESTRICTED TO WHAT YOU CAN HAVE BUT BEING ABLE TO SATISFY WITH LESS!!! YOU WILL SEE THAT THE WILL POWER WILL BE STRONGER THE MORE WEIGHT YOU LOOSE!!! I DON'T CRAVE chocolate AS MUCH AS I USED TO, OF COURSE SPECIAL K CHOCOLATE CERIAL AND BARS HELP ONCE IN A WHILE. BEING BANDED WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!!!!

snowbird 2 Posted January 22, 2008 food has lost its hold over me. I eat more because it's meal time and I know I need nourishment than because I am dying to stuff something in me. No regrets at all.
