That's my main question - I know I have to do SOMETHING about my weight... and I've requested online information in order to get a consultation.... I've been reading quite a bit and my question for all of you is:

are any of you sorry that you went this route? Seriously.... is life afterward with all of the eating restrictions just "too much"??:help:

Not for one second do I regret it! I have had my fair share of problems, but I wouldn't trade it for ONE second.

There is life without overindulgance, and you know what it is a hell of a lot better. I don't have to be ashamed anymore of what I eat in public or private. I don't have to be sorry that I have to take part of someone else's seat on the airplane because there is just no where else for my a$$ to go, I don't have to be sorry that I can't play with my kids, I don't have to be sorry that I have to have a seat belt extender, I don't have to be sorry anymore that I look incompetent, or lazy. (not that I ever was--just a stereotype we deal with) So do I regret it? Well, the only regret is that I didn't take control of my life sooner!

I do not regret it but would not necessarily recommend it either. I have not had great success. I have had lots of problems with my band being too tight. I find that I eat more sauces and lubricants to just get down any meat or fish. I eat alot of dairy because it is soft and has some Protein.

Other days I can eat everything and do because I am starved from being sick and in pain when I am too tight. I have had many bouts of throwing up, even my saliva. Most of the time I am ok and can eat most things just less. Suddenly my band just gets tight and then my stomach swells and continues to swell until I get a defill. I have lost 40 pounds but was down 30 2 weeks after surgery. I was banded in March 2007. It is a rollercoaster of starting over because, I get too tight, need a defill, slowly reintroduce food, then need a fill, a week later, too tight again...etc...

Do I regret it, no because I do feel different and better most of the time. Would I do it again? NO.

Anyone with a similar experience?

I had my banding 7/25/2006. Not one day has gone by where I ever felt regret...even when I had eaten something that got stuck and had to get rid of it again. I miss being able to drink soda with all the carbonation but wouldn't give up my lap band unless my left depended on giving it up. I consider it my new birth date. the weight is coming off slowly - I've taken off 120 lbs in a bit over a year but as long as it's going down it's going in the right direction. :clap2:

I was sore for a while but back to work 5 days after the surgery. Don't force it. I wouldn't drink more than 4 oz at a time - maybe every 2 hrs or so. Hang in there. It is the best thing I have ever done.

I don't regret getting the band....I just got mine in August. I am down 16lbs so far. I just have my doubts right now and maybe someone can be bloody honest with me about this thing. Right now I feel like it helps me eat less but the quality of the food I eat is still as big of an issue as it was before the surgery. I have only had one fill so far and feel some restriction but not much. Does this change? I know this is a terrible excuse but I am a crazy busy person, on the go all the time. I try to log calories but fail at it. The band does not solve head hunger issues at all (at least in my experience). I am afraid that if I keep going at this pace I will lose weight but it is going to be very slow. I know that without the band I would be heavier now and would have never lost the 16lbs. So, has anyone else felt the way I do right now? Does it get better with more fills? Do you guys think my weight loss will pick up, what were your experiences?

My regret is also not getting it done sooner. Just think of how far along I'd be by now

I HAVE had a complication and had to have revision surgery on the port, and I'm still a happy camper.

I'm overfilled at the moment and that IS pissing me off, but that's easily fixed next week.

You are absoulutly right - you need to make good food choices in order to lose - the band is only a tool but the real work is up to you.

Nope they banded your tummy and not your head - half our eating problems are mostly head hunger issues imho.

Fills will keep you from eating a large quainty of food - but if you eat around the band they aren't going to do anything

IMHO - unless you change your eating you may lose some but it won't be what you expect.

I don't mean to sound mean here you asked for "bloody honesty"

The band does 25% of the work and the other 75% is up to you - you have to change your eating - need to make healthy low fat sugar free food choices and add exercise to your life.. IMHO until you do these things you aren't going to lose much weight...

I had my first band on September 26th 2005. 4 months to the day I found out that I had a leak in my port and band.

I was devestated to say the least. 1 month later I had my second band and port.

The recovery was harder. But would I do it a 3rd or 4th time, without hesitation!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
