blessed grammy 14 Posted June 8, 2017 Hi everyone! I just started the "Liver Shrinking diet" prior to surgery. We are to have no more than 45 carbs per day, and I'm having a hard time with it. I keep thinking, if I can't do this, I am going to die for sure on the ten day liquid diet right before surgery! Any pointers anyone? OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted June 8, 2017 45 grams of carbs seems really generous. I was allowed 3 shakes a day. What is hard about it to you? 1 blessed grammy reacted to this
AllysonB 18 Posted June 8, 2017 I am on my first day of my liver shrink diet. The Doctor provided Optifast shakes and I have Five a day they each have 20 carbs that's 100 a day. Really strange how doctors differ on this diet.. 1 blessed grammy reacted to this
Flippista 67 Posted June 8, 2017 My plan only allows 30grams of carbs a day; it was not a liquid diet though. It's doable!! I'm also a type 2 diabetic and I thought it would be rough but I was ok on Day 2. Good Luck! 2 blessed grammy and AllysonB reacted to this

What is hard about it to you?Ten days prior to surgery, I will only be able to have 3 shakes a day and Clear Liquids. That's why I guess I was kind of freaking a little today. I mean, this is just day one of the low carb diet, so overall, I have done well today. I guess I just didn't realize how just about everything has carbs in it! I kind of tripped out when I saw that even my Vitamins have carbs! Lol! It sucks when you're the only one in the house that's on a strict diet. But like you said, we can do this Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app 1 AllysonB reacted to this

You will find you have a lot more carbs to work with than you think. 2 AllysonB and blessed grammy reacted to this

It is tough just hang on we can do it!!It is actually getting a lot easier carb wise. But I have noticed that my sodium intake is way too high, so I have to start working on that too...Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
