Good luck...I'm 9 days post op I did a lot of research and so far everything is going so well..only a small snafoo that I didn't see anywhere on this app was an allergic reaction around all my incision sites...other than that can't complain...I get to start puréed foods in 2 days..I actually brought the chamomile tea to the hospital...plus it also helps for bms [emoji119][emoji106][emoji817]

One thing that makes me worry is the fact that the patient information notebook they gave me is that there is no liquid diet and the only admonishment diet-wise pre-op is that (a) no eating or drinking anything after twelve midnight on the day of surgery, (B) you should quit caffeine because withdrawal is going to be a b***h in the hospital (got that down) and © you can't gain weight between the time you have your surgeon's consult and your pre-admit (or pre-op?) appointment.

I had a two week pre-op diet of low carbs/low sugar and then liquids only the day before. I think it helped me prepare for the 2 weeks liquids after surgery. I'm 8 days post op. I list 12 lbs on the pre-op diet also.
Good luck to you! [emoji4]

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe I should start up a liquid diet next week just to be safe. My weight is rollercoastering in spite of my adherence to my 1,800 calorie diet, so this may be for the best.

I'm on my two week pre-op LD right now. It has been a struggle but I'm only on day 3. I hear it gets easier as I go.

Hello everyone! Well i am now 2 days post op! Here was my experiance.
I was schedule to come to register & pay my $300 co pay at 6:30 am. We arrived 15mins early & had to wait for 20 mins to come register. Ok so that was done. After we register & finally go into the pre op room where they weigh you & take ur vitals. So after another 15 mins. I was taken down the to the other end of the room & given my surgerical gown & to put the IV in, that hurt btw, I think the RN was a little ruff because it was just routine for her do that. Now the other RN who gave me the blood thinner shot was very gentle. So all that was done. It took another 3 hrs to go in to have my surgery. Even though I was told I was Dr Fordorkas first patient it still took him that long to come get me. SO it was from 6:15-11am to get my surgery started. When I was waken up from that wonderful sleep it was about noon time. No here is the worse part: i stayed in the recovery room for 5 hours waiting for hospital room! My family was very upset because they were waiting for all that time with no one coming to update them on my status! It was 5pm when I finally got into my room![emoji35]
But after all that waiting my surgery went well. My pain stayed between the 3-4 mark on the pain chart. The,first thing I did before they hook me up with all the omitors & stuff I used the rest & walk a little! My nurses all thought I was their super star patient. They didnt expect me to go pee or walk so soon! They didnt know that my goal was go home in Less than 24 hrs in order to get some of my copay back. You see kaiser told me if i stayed in the hospital for less than 24hrs then my copay would only be $124. So if they didnt make me wait so long just get my surgery done I wouldve made & got some of my copay back. Plus I over heard that Dr Fordorka is a very slow doctor! But for me he did a very good job on me![emoji16]

Tomorrow's the big day. Really worried because just in the past 2 days I've come down with a cold. No fever, it's basically all nasal but the postnasal drip is irritating my throat. They said to proceed as normal and they'll assess me in the morning. Hope I'm well enough for surgery! I'm certainly ready!

Hello Jaejae79
How did ur procedure go? Im 2 days post op myself!

Hi Harmonylynn. My pain wasnt to bad @ first felt more like sore muscles.
After I got home yesterday the pain got a little more like mentral cramps or severe hunger pains! Cant wait till tomorrow when I can start back to drinking my protien shakes, Vitamins & yogurts.

Yes I agree about the tea! When I was in the hospital they served me camomile tea! It was the best thing I could drink!
Thanks for the reminder. Now that im home ima go fix me some right now!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
