How much did you workout pre-op? Or did you work out at all?

I'm curious to see what people do or don't do. Please be honest if you don't/didn't work out pre-op.

I increased my activity a little but didn't suddenly go wild. Good luck!

I've always worked out, but was out due to an injury, so no pre-op working out (about 4 months worth) for me. I'd encourage you to do so, if you can, for the habit, just as @northern_bypass said. Your body will thank you too. :)

Can anyone recommend YouTube videos for entry-level strength training. After meeting with the fitness expert for my evaluations, I bought 10-pound and 20-pound dumbbells. I just have no idea what to do with them. And there's so much information on YouTube -- it's hard to figure out what's good and what's not.

I started working out when I started my 6 month preop diet plan. I wanted to set the stage for my postop life. I tried some new ways of working out and found one that I LOVE.

I've neverbeen a person who loves to work out before. Next month will be my one year anniversary of working out 4-5 days a week, EVERY week (except surgery recovery). I literally can't believe it even though it's true! And the best part, I feel SO good and I am not even close to be being sick of the program. I am truly a person who looks forward to the gym.

I recommend you give it a try (assuming you are physically able).

Exactly!!!! It's so counterintuitive - you work out and you get MORE energy rather than less.

You might try lesmills on demand or beach body on demand. I think tbey have at least a couple free programs you can do.

Less mills is so much fun. Used a barbell, but you should be able to use dumb bells. My favorite.

I used to work out and walk daily. Then we moved across the country and I don't work out as much. Since starting the bariatric program, I've started using an exercise bike, but it isn't consistent. To get in more walking since it rains ALL the time, I've been walking up and down my stairs. Constantly. But I just wonder if it's enough. Sometimes I use resistance bands and jump rope a little. Should I up my activity level? Or should I not worry so much since I am getting in so work. I plan to exercise after surgery.

I think anything you do to increase your activity is great ! If you feel you could do more ( with out hurting yourself ) go for it . I use my Exercise bike and i have a cable weight set. I also use my stairs:)

My doc wants me to do 10,000 steps or 5 miles of walking a day. My dog is too small for that so I bought a buggy for him. I found exercising was impossible to do the first week of taking my antibiotics for h. pylori so I am starting all over after I finish the last dose.

I bought a TRX training straps

I do high intensity interval training 5 days a week. It's an insane workout. But it burns a bunch of calories, is really fun, and I've added a ton of muscle. Plus, because it's high intensity the workout is only 27 minutes plus 9 minutes of abs. Seriously the best, most fun and brutal workout.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
