Stall at week 3 already?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Is it possible to stall at week 3?

I've been weighing the same for over a week now and I just had my rny on may 20th.

Isn't it too soon to be stalling?

Nope. You're right on schedule.

Google or search this forum for " 3 week stall" and you will find literally hundreds of questions and answers about it. 99% of is have gone through it and continued on to lose weight.

You're not doing anything wrong. Just stay the course and it will pass.

Tomorrow I'll be 3 weeks and for the last few days I've been gaining and losing the same 1-3lbs... I am so glad I read about the stall here because I'm mentally prepared to handle it. If I hadn't I would do what I normally do and give up. It sucks since I am only down about 14lbs since surgery BUT that's 14 less than before and hopefully the scale moves soon but if not I see changes so I'm hanging in there. Just wait it will move eventually and search the topic for lots of tips and resources

almost everyone experiences that. In fact, we have an official name for it - "the three-week stall". If you do a search on it, you'll probably find thousands of threads on it

Thank you!
I tend to freak out easily, I must admit.

Thank you! I feel much better now. I've been stressing over this that I didn't feel like eating because I didn't want to put on weight but then I remembered that this is the reason I'm here now. [emoji27]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
