NSV with Halloween Candy?

Recommended Posts

And here approaches my first set of Holidays with the band.

So far, I am being very good.. anyone else having NSV moments when they pass the unbelievable amount of Halloween candies and treats??

I deliberately don't walk down candy aisles anymore as not to tempt myself.. but when I go grocery shopping now, there they are EVERYWHERE. I walk by them several times, and I hear them whisper my name.

But alas, I say NO TO YOU CANDY!!

Anyone else having these proud moments? :car:

I work in a grocery store pharmacy, and the halloween candy display is right in front of me. I just picture those little bags of candy bars hanging from my ass, like 50 on each side. It has worked so far.

Like the Breakfast bar commercials? The ones where they have the cinnamon-bun rear or a donut around the middle?

We bought a few bags of candy over the weekend because they were on sale. Normally I wouldn't buy candy this early because it would be GONE before Halloween.

I had my boyfriend hide them from me - lol.

I saw the playdough!! I told DH we should get that.. and he said, I wouldn't let my kids have playdough from strangers. Men!!

We're going to get candy, but when the time comes I'm getting candy I absolutely hate.. that way I'm not tempted to eat it. Normally we get bags of candy early and of course they don't last!

:) I have special candy dishes for both wrapped chocolate Halloween candy and candy corn. I bought it like always and have it sitting out like always.

So far since surgery I have no desire what-so-ever for sugar of any kind. Hope that NEVER ENDS!!!

Since surgery Aug. 13 NO:

sugar

caffeine

carbonation

bread

Pasta

rice

potatoes

or anything white

and so far NO cravings for anything at all!!!

Oh, please Lord, don't let this ever end!!!

;)

I think he was just trying to sway me away from the Halloween stuff. He has ZERO excitement for things like this, where as I went "Ooooo playdough!".

So he said "I wouldn't let my kids have playdough from strangers".

Of course, on that note why would you let them have candy that they EAT from strangers.

I don't question my husband's logic, he's just a man

OK I was just trying to figure out why playdough was a bad choice.

I figure if I have any left I will put them in stockings for my friends.

I don't personally think it's a bad idea, I wanted to give it out lol!

Although when I was a kid, my favorite houses were the ones that gave out 'goodie bags' and FULL size candy bars. We loved those neighbors! Hah hah.

What does the abbreviation NVS stand for? I have searched the FAQ's as suggested by others and did not find it.

NSV stands for "Non-scale victory". Maybe it didn't come up in your search because you typed in "NVS" by accident and not "NSV".

I went to the store yesterday and walked down the candy isle and didnt put anything in my cart. I was so proud of myself for that. I looked at stuff and put them back. I was so proud of myself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
