Thx G One of the side effects of WLS is the potential for your taste buds to change. Many foods we once enjoyed have no appeal anymore. For me, I have had no major changes. There are foods I avoid like the plague to avoid any risk of dumping syndrome but for the most part the same Proteins, chicken, steak and fish are still just as good as before. It will be trial and error they tell me for the first year so expect more changes in life as we continue this journey. There are things now that prior to the surgery I would consume because I enjoyed the way they taste and now, you couldn't pay me to eat them. BackAgain 9 Posted June 7, 2017 I've experienced it with a few things. The oddest being miso Soup. It's fairly bland to begin with. I always kept some miso paste packets at work for a mid morning snack, and expected to continue to do so after my RNY. Can't stand them now though. Strange. I'm probably posting from my phone. Please excuse any typos!
Thucydides 250 Posted June 7, 2017 I'm 19 months post-op and have definitely had a similar issue in terms of changing tastes. Before surgery, I was a big meat eater. Now, I really dislike most meat (particularly chicken and shrimp, both of which I really enjoyed before surgery). It is weird, but I have learned to work around it.
