Hi guys I was wondering at what week post op did you start more intense exercise? I've been walking but I know from my weight loss experience it's not enough for me to lose substantial weight. Also what kids of exercise did you do?

I'm like 6 weeks out and i haven't started intense exercise yet. I'll probably wait until a year or so after surgery, I'm planning on doing extensive hiking in the Sierras with a buddy of mine back in California. I also plan on getting a bike, if I can find practical ways of using it.

I was cleared to amp up my workout at 6 weeks by my surgeon. I still held off for a couple more weeks because I just didn't have the energy beyond walking. Talk to your surgeon or call your NUT. There may be specific guidelines specifically for you.

I had my 2 week check up yesterday and I was told I could return to Crossfit (I've been going for over 2 years). The Dr said to listen to my body and stop a movement when it hurts. I'm going back to class on Monday and plan to lift light for the first few weeks, but I should be fine with the cardio portions.

I was cleared for strenuous exercise after 6 weeks. I'm at almost 8 weeks post-op and will be starting up Bikram (hot) Yoga again this weekend. Up to now I've just been walking and bike riding.

I was cleared for walking on solid ground right off the mark and to advance as tolerated.

At six weeks I was cleared to go back to the gym but to "start at square one." (To say the least, my poor husband lived through six weeks of bloody hell with me not going to gym!)

However, I have not been able to work on my abs directly yet as the doctor repaired an umbilical hernia while he had me on the table. Surgery was March 20th 2017. My follow-up is July 5th. I'm trying to live one day at a time but it's so hard when my abdomen looks and feels like a remake of the Pillsbury dough boy!

I'm 2.5 months out. I swim 3x a week, go dancing, and then do the occasional walk. Hoping to incorporate some strength training as well but for now I'm happy with my routine!

I was walking immediately and back to intense exercise after 6 weeks. Ask your surgeon for their advice.

First 3 weeks, did lots of walking. Started back to my aerobic Water class at about the 4th week, but some of the jumping, hopping things would hurt, so I did what I could. By the end of the 5th week, I could do everything that I used to do before and then some. No pain by then.

I went to my first cross fit class since surgery this morning (I did not miss getting up at 4:30a to exercise!). I did almost all of the workout. I had to skip sit-ups and jump rope, my incisions were aching, but I did the weight lifting and running. My only concern is my limited Water intake. I can't gulp water like I used to, and I worry about dehydration. I tried to sip as much as possible during class, had a Protein Shake after, and I'm still sipping on water at work 3 hours later. I'll know later tonight/tomorrow morning if I did any damage I guess. While I used to go to class 5 days a week I'm going to ease back in and start off with 3 days a week for the first few weeks. I'm also starting the Couch to 5 K program this week, I'll do the runs on my "off" days.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
