Recommended Posts

Had my first fill today 10/16 doc, found my port right away i said wow u found itfast! doc replied yes i'm the one that put it there i better be able to find it lol! i asked if i should go back on liquids he said keep on doing what your doing so i had some soft foods/ muchies today and everything went down actually to well. I was filled with 3cc's i have a new band that just came out 2 months ago he said it's a 10cc band and that leaves room for my adjustments i guess he knows what is best after all not only is he my surgeon he also educates other surgeons on banding. As i read up above it can take a few weeks i also have to see my doc every 2 weeks for the next 3 months.

I'm 5 weeks post-op and down 13lbs i'm fine with that wt loss after all it took me years to put it on so i don't mind a few yrs to get it off!

I CAN RELATE TO ALL, I HAD MY FIRST FILL 10/15 AND I CALLED THE DR. AND TOLD HIM THAT I WAS STILL VERY HUNGRY AND FELT NOOO RESTRICTION!! I GET A LITTLE FUSTRATED BECAUSE I HAVE PAID ALL THIS MONEY AND HAVE GAINED WEIGHT INSTEAD OF LOST. sO THE DR. TOLD ME TO COME IN 10/22(ONE WEEK) AFTER MY FIRST FILL. I HOPE I FINALLY GET A LITTLE SATISFACTION.

I had my first fill today, 10/17 and am very hungry. I am very nervous to eat though and have a goal for 30 pounds by 10/24, so I will be hungry to achieve it!

I go back in 1 month, but can call to go back earlier if I am hungry.

I had 4 cc's put in my band today.

This is such an interesting process!

Ask not what you're lap-band can do for you rather, what you can do for your lap-band.

I try to do an hour plus in the gym every day, and I haven't had sugar (candy), potatoes, bread, rice, or Pasta since surgery. Don't look at my signature for miracle numbers, because weighing myself now only happens at the doctor's office. I'm also learning how to listen to my hunger. Sometimes I just give it a taste of Peanut Butter and it shuts up.

So, no obsesseing over a daily scale. No carbs. Do the daily gym. Deal with the voice of hunger, rationally. Voila, the new me. Something has to give, and it will probably be pounds.

These are all probably things that 'normal' people do, instinctively. But I'm a hundred pounds over weight because I am not 'normal'. So I'm 60 and fat, but learning.

Whats interesting is that I know now that I can live without bread, etc. If I go to McDonalds, for example, I love a double quarter pounder with cheese, I just throw the bun in the trash. The remaining meat, cheese, pickle, and garnishing, tastes wonderful.

Finally, I haven't had a fill yet, either. I've put as much as a quart of salad and chilie through me, for example, and haven't felt any restriction. But just the idea that the band is there, and that there is a limit, helps.

As long as my clothes are getting looser, I'm going to stick with what I'm doing, because I'm losing, and I feel good.

Finally, my stupid body sometimes communicates that it needs more Protein, which I answer with Protein shakes.

Just some thoughts. God Bless Us All,

greg

I am feeling frustrated as well. Up until last week I was doing great. I started on solid foods and then this week seems like I can eat alot. I have to eat slowly but I can still eat way more than I should. I feel scared. I was reading some posts about how some people think it is stupid that newly banded people are overeating, but for me most of it is emotional, which is why I got the band in the first place. Anyway I don't get a fill for a week. Hope to hear good news from all of you that got fills. Might jump over to the earlier months and see if they went through the same battle (I'm sure they did).

I am afraid everyone doesn't have the same emotional eating issues as some of us others! If we didn't overeat, we wouldn't have paid big bucks to have a tool put in. Just because surgery occurs in no time, doesn't necessarily mean that our habits change. I don't think I am overeating, but judging others because of it bothers me! If they have a problem with our thoughts and habits, they shouldn't read our posts.

Hi all of us banders. I was banded Sept.11. Im down 20 lbs. The only time I felt any restriction was during the 1st few days after surgery. I measure out my 1/2 cup meals and Im still hungery

and dont feel satisified or full. I sure hope a fill is my answer. Im working off of will power and the nutritionists orders. I see my dr. Nov 5th. I can relate to everyone out there.I guess I just need to be patient and stop letting the scale judge my success.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
