Never thought 1/2c was too much

Recommended Posts

I never knew if I should believe it or not but 1/2 cup of "full liquids" is too much!

This is only my second lunch being on full liquids- after surgery I was on Clear Liquids for the first week. I got myself a 1/4 cup of fat-free cottage cheese and 1/4 cup of Tomato Soup. I was eating slowly and at one point looked down at my bowl and for the first time in my life thought I had too much food left! Then I noticed I was very full (tight feeling in chest) when I was only half way done.

I'm still getting used to the practice of leaving food on my plate because it feels wrong but I'm so glad that this tool is helping me literally not be able to finish. I was never sure if I should believe that or not either lol.

Congrats! This is one of my favorite things about the bypass too. Even at 10 months out, I can't eat more than 3-4 ounces comfortably. My 11 year old daughter commented today about how I eat so much less than her. It's a wonderful feeling to eat just a small amount and know that you are done and satisfied. Good luck on your journey!

I didn't think cottage cheese was considered a full liquid. Did you purée it? That actually sounds good. I'm sick of full liquids, but my 2 week recheck isn't until Monday. That's when I'll get the go ahead for soft mushy food.

too bad it's not tomorrow. I have to spend the weekend in a hotel with only liquid to eat.

Yeah cottage cheese, plain yogurt, and creamed Soups added to everything that I could have with clear liquids. My discharge allowable foods is attached

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
