I was banded monday 0ct 8 and I am supposed to take a week off. I have not felt like working until today, I probably could go back if necessary. It is so boring at home. This morning I cleaned out my closet and that was extremely motivating!!!

I was banded last Monday, 10/1, and I really expected to be back to work by the following Mon. I have been very sore in the port site, and have a lot of chest soreness. I called my boss Friday, and said that I would need another week off. Is this normal? I thought I would bounce back within a week like most people I've talked to.

I had surgery on Tues - back at work the following Monday (day 6)

I wore pants the first day back that buttoned not elastic and I did have some port site discomfort. But wore dresses for the next few weeks as was fine...

I was just banded Tuesday, October 9th and don't plan to return to work until Monday, October 29th!

I'm so surprised at those of you who went back four days later--this is the morning of my fourth day and I cannot imagine having to be back at my desk worrying about catching all my staples on anything. I'm sore--but I haven't been using the pain medication--maybe pain meds make the transition back to work easier.

And, the fact that I'm 60 (and I'm paid for my time off) makes a big difference!! Probably whether you are paid for the time off makes a BIG difference, and everyone IS different...

It has been almost 9 months Post Surgery. I had my lap band installed on 1/23/07 (Tuesday) and returned to work 1/24/07(Wednesday), the next day. I was a little sore, but nothing too bad.

I went motorcycle riding that Sunday. I just figured that I wanted to get on with my new life.

Never used any pain meds after 7/18 and i was banded 7/17 - I didn't have staples - all my surgery incisions were glued shut - with a couple steri strips on my port site - I also have pto - but didn't want to use my vacation/sick time up doing nothing - I really was able to come back on day 6 - but like you said everyone is different - their are 40 yr olds who take that much time too - so i don't really thing it's all about the age..

I've been kinda wondering about this myself. I work 12 hour shifts also, shift work, and somedays hit the floor running and don't quit til it's time to go home. I have days where it's pretty relaxed, but if things need to be done, I need to be able to do them. I work in a power plant, and sometimes the work is VERY physical. Im hoping for 2 weeks to be enough time, although my company has unlimited payed sick time, Im hoping that is going to be enough.

I was banded on Oct 3 and returned to work on Oct 9. I felt real good and was bored at home. I stand on my feet all day but I have been taking frequent breaks. Today is day 10 after surgery and I woke up with soreness around my port. I am going to work but my call it a short day. Is this soreness normal?

It took me two full weeks to feel ok and another week to really feel better to be at work. I'm a teacher and have to move around a lot. I think you just have to see how you feel and then decide. You can't rush yourself just listen to your body.
