No restriction; What to eat?

Recommended Posts

:help:I am almost 6 weeks post op and I have very little restriction. Sometimes I can eat only 2/3 cup and sometimes I can eat 2+cups of food. Because I can eat so much, I am wondering what I should do to help myself fill up. I have been trying to stick with a normal bandster diet, but when I am hungry between meals, I tend to try to eat veggies. Is this OK? I'm trying the Protein shakes and low-calorie, low-carbohydrate foods.

Any suggestions on how to get through this stage while I am waiting for my fill appointment?

Just accept it. It's completely normal to have no restriction at this point. You may also find that you don't keep the restriction you get with your first fill for very long. That's normal too.

It sounds like you're eating just fine. If you're determined to diet at this point, you could also go on any diet that has worked for you in the past. It's unlikely you'll have any food intolerances yet.. as those usually come with restriction.

The Band is not designed to offer much, if any, restriction without a fill... so don't beat yourself up if you can't stick to a prescribed diet. Once you begin having fills (which I'm assuming you will soon), things will get much easier.

Thanks a bunch. I just wasn't sure what to do. It seems weird to go from a bandster diet to, like, South Beach and then back and forth, and so on. but, I think I'lm getting it now.

Thanks a lot!

Want2beme - IMHO you are doing the right thing - When I am extra hungry - I just eat extra veggies.... My diet is Low fat - sugar free and minimum carbs - I refuse to eat an Adtkin type diet - I allow my self 1/2 cup of rice or a small baked potato for dinner - I will have a tortilla (corn 60 cal) with a mex meal - I take my fish which i eat almost daily and make a fish taco (without the white mayo sauce) - I truely follow WW eating plan as i think that is the most well rounded - I count calories and prt grms only.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
