Ipeek90 64 Posted June 1, 2017 So I know I'm not the only one, but when I woke up from surgery the 1st thing I asked was "how did go? Am I all bypassed??" I wanted to hear it directly from my surgeon, as I thought " I only feel slight pain from incisions, they must have gone in and cancelled it for some reason."I've talked with nurses, anesthesiologist and everyone else that was in the OR with me and they all said it went perfectly!! I didn't see my Surgeon until this morning (day after surgery) and he caught me walking the halls and just laughed and said "well, you're up and smiling I guess you want to go home?" So I finally got to ask him face to face if everything went well and he said it went really well, no issues at all. So I'm laying here at home with no gas pain, have been able to urinate like 2 hours after surgery on a regular basis. No BM yet, but I've not had anything to cause one since the Magnesium Citrate cleaned me out before surgery. So I feel like I've not even had the surgery except the incisions, and the muscle pain from them going in and not being able to drink much. I guess I psyched myself out thinking there was going to be more pain, but it appears I've gotten lucky.Anyone else feel this way? Thanks for reading!HW: 471SW: 427Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

travelergirl 142 Posted June 1, 2017 Day of surgery I was also shocked at how good I felt. Second day had a little more discomfort. Muscles were more sore when I was getting in or out of bed. Incision sites were a bit tender for next couple of days. I'm on day 6 post op and incisions itch and have almost no pain.Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Ipeek90 reacted to this
Ipeek90 64 Posted June 1, 2017 Glad I'm not the only one feeling that way. I just woke up and my bowls are making a ton of noise!! Seem like they're waking up from the anesthesia finally.Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 1, 2017 I remember being worried the first few days that they didn't do the surgery since I felt so good. I've heard others say that as well - so you're not alone! 1 Ipeek90 reacted to this
jhope71 105 Posted June 1, 2017 Be grateful! LOL I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time and couldn't breath properly for almost 2 weeks. The gastric bypass was the easy part. I had an easy time with that part, too. Keep walking, keep sipping! :-) 1 Ipeek90 reacted to this

Thankfully in my case I didnt have anything else done, though I know having the hiatal repair is common. Sorry you had to endure that!!! 1 jhope71 reacted to this
Sajijoma 1,324 Posted June 6, 2017 I had the same experience with no significant pain and no gas and wondering if the surgery even really took place except for the fact I couldn't drink very much at a time. I wonder if some of it has to do with our high starting weights and always being in a certain amount of background pain. As the weight melts off you'll probably start to realize that you were always in pain when it suddenly goes away. It's a weird experience for sure.

blondie66 271 Posted June 13, 2017 I have a large hiatal hernia and an umbilical hernia that need repaired when I have WLS. How long were you in the hospital? Did they send you home with pain meds? My surgery is in two weeks. I had a hernia fixed when had my RNY bypass. I was in hospital for 4 days post op and didn't take pain killers when I got home. I did have extra nausea after the surgery and was on an IV for 3 days as I couldn't keep anything down. Did get gas pains in upper chest area they diminished after 4 days and took medication for 3 months after surgery cause of hernia but can't remember the name. 1 InThisLife reacted to this
