I went back to work yesterday. I work 12 hour shifts at a hospital. I haven't eaten anything different to when I was resting at home but I have this new nauseous feeling which I haven't had before. Im not sure if it's because I'm moving around more but it's constant. I can feel it in my throat. Is this because I'm being more active rather than resting? I only had nausea for 2 days after my surgery. And haven't had it since. I feel a bit worried as I've been doing great these past 2 weeks. Is this normal?

That is a tough question to answer. Have you contacted your surgeon about this?

I've had it the past couple weeks bad I couldn't hardly drink Water and I can't live without my water sothe dr has been working with me and has tried me on a couple different meds but the last he has prescribed me is working so far unless of course I drink or eat a little to fast. If you or anyone would like the name of the meds just let me know. I forgot to see how old this post was before I responded.

I figured out that it is acid reflux causing my nausea. My throat is so sore and the acid makes me feel so sick. That's why I feel it in my throat and can't get rid of the constant nauseous feeling. My surgeon has doubled my meds. But doesn't seem to be helping at this moment in time. Just a case of waiting to see if it improves over time.

I have had acid reflux forever and finally I've been on 40mg. Omeprazole, once a day for the past year and have had such relief it's amazing, I have to take it every morning but it works every day. Sometimes at night I might have to take an extra one or if I ate something that is a little too strong on my stomach but I try to eat properly and the medicine helps. I am bipolar and taking meds for that has given me nausea but it will also be helpful when I have my sleeve on June 2 1 St. Also I have zofran sublingual tablets for nausea they help also.

My surgeon has upped my omprezole to 80mg a day but still not helping! Feeling a bit rubbish as I was doing so well for the first 4 weeks. I may have to ask for anti sickness tablets at some point.

Have your gallbladder checked.

Make sure you are eating and drinking enough and often enough.

There may be a food that's causing it.

Hope you figure it out soon!

Are you eating more quickly at work? Sometimes in that setting we feel more rushed and may be eating more quickly than at home.

Yes I guess I do eat more quickly at work. can eating too quickly affect acid reflux? Forgive me for sounding silly.

I feel like sometimes at work pre op when I would eat more quickly I would feel like it would but my stomach hard afterward. Especially when I would order at the cafeteria and have only 10 mins left to eat by the time was back on the unit. Might be worth a try to slow down a little of possible. I just had surgery Wednesday so I haven't gotten to that point yet. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
