Upper GI was standard for us, too. I had abnormalities and needed an endoscopy, too. I had a little chronic gastritis, so we took some biopsies to make sure I didn't have H. Pylori (ulcer causing bacteria infection). Very glad to have this safeguard in place! Would NOT want to have surgery with an active H. Pylori infection.

I know it feels like a lot of hoops to jump through, but they really are for your own safety and best outcome.

I'm in southern Michigan....and while we do get lake effect, I'm inland enough not to get clobbered. We've got maybe 4-6 inches on the ground total right now. That said, we're due another inch or two today, and Friday we could get 8 inches.

It melts quick. should have warm up pretty soon. Should be the last big snow.

Spring is almost here!

From your mouth to God's ear. Hey did you see my Baribuddy D Roseman is going to go t o Dr Plealtmsn in Michigan? She lives in Bowling Green, doctors there and in Toledo quoted her $20000+ and it looks like she's gonna have to go private pay, her insurance doesn't want to pony up.

I'm not a fan of small independent bariatric clinics. I would only use a major trauma center and center of excellence for major surgery. I also want my surgeon to be the person following up on my case permanently. But that's my personal preference....and I do understand why people sometimes make other choices.

There are a lot of things I'll bargain hunt for. But medical care isn't one of them.

In a better world, people wouldn't have to do this.

I don't get that they are bashing the belief in God. I see it as God expects us to do for ourselves. I'm pretty sure that's why God gave us free will.

God didn’t give us free will we took it upon ourselves rather than doing his will.

If we didn’t have free will now could we have done that? I’m confused.

Came across this post looking for something else....
OP did you manage to get your surgery? I hope so! Your in my prayers.

Other posters... can we all just agree to disagree? Love the people who acknowledge that religion is not something to discuss in polite conversation, just like politics.

I am so sorry to the original poster that her post turned into a classic bread and circus scenario. We all deserve support and thank feel heard.

Hi,

thank you for checking on me. I pay no mind to all the rude degrading chatter on my post. That's their choice and choices have consequences.

I have not had surgery yet. Life got extremely busy the last few months. One of the biggest things was a move from North Dakota to Alaska. But I have also been adopting a new lifestyle for eating. I'm working on adding exercise in as well. Insurance is now wanting to pay for my surgery. I have orientation march 7th. I've also decided to switch to bypass instead of sleeve

I actually have a Facebook group documenting everything now if you're interested.

In my picture I included: on the buffalo was July 2017. Blue shirt was me last week. Been following mostly low carb high Protein. Cutting sugars breads etc

Kowgirl1988 I too am glad to have you back in the Bariatric fold. Maybe it's the grandma in me but I want all my little chicks safe. So now will you be going to Anchorage, Juneau or somewhere else? Must confess I don't know who are running programs in Alaska but trust you'll find the best for you. God Bless and keep you safe until his return.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
