odontask 13 Posted May 30, 2017 Hi everyone. I get sleeved on the 13th of this month at beth Israel deaconess in Boston. I'm on day one of my pre op liquid diet. My pre op exam is this morning at the hospital. About a month ago I saw a recommendation for a popular post op low sugar shake that was still tasty and went down easy but since can't find that posting, even with the search function. I also saw on this forum someone mentioning Protein Water. May someone who has already succeeded with this and liked what they purchased let me know what they did? Just wanting to be proactive and get my Amazon order in. Thanks
Diana_in_Philly 1,426 Posted May 30, 2017 It may have been mention of Premier Protein products. I have found they are really good. But don't order in bulk from Amazon - I found that my tastes changed after surgery. Things I loved before tasted terrible for the first few weeks after surgery. Test a variety of Protein both pre-mixed and powder to see what you like.
odontask 13 Posted May 30, 2017 Thank you for your input. I do have premier shakes for pre op but it's too much sugar for post op. i wasn't aware they made low sugar ones I'll have to check that out
B.Annie 290 Posted May 30, 2017 I had premier for preop and then when I started my liquid preop diet my doc banned all premier, boost, ensure and all other of the "yummy" Protein Shakes. He said they were not approved and shouldn't be used due to sugar or carb or calorie and Protein ratios being too poor. The best one I found on the list (highest ratio of protein to calories with no carbs sugars) was Isopure powder HW: 328 (02/21/17)SW: 271 (05/24/17)CW: 1 MBird reacted to this
BCSinMI 0 Posted May 30, 2017 I was just sleeved on 5/22. My doctor didn't ban Premier Protein, and in fact said that it was a great option with the most bang for your buck. I also have been drinking premier Protein Water, its got a funny texture to it but it is manageable. I have not yet tried but heard good things about the nectar Brand fruity protein for when you don't want the creamy consistency.
Hoolahoopster 10 Posted June 2, 2017 Sleeved May 24th. I wish I can drink shakes, for some reason I can't tolerate them so I'm stuck with clear Protein isolate for now. My doctor also said no to Premier and no to greek yogurt, he's on the conservative side. Today my delivery came in to try another clear protein. I hope I like it.... RHmama 42 Posted June 2, 2017 I like the GENEPRO unflavored Protein Powder (available at GNC or Amazon). Adds 30 grams of Protein to your food. I put it in Soup, oatmeal, mashed cauliflower, Crystal Light and I just discovered putting it in Propel Water. Has a slight odor but overall very good! 1 Hoolahoopster reacted to this
