Iwanttofitinmyweddingdress 31 Posted May 30, 2017 My surgery is June 6, and I started my 2 weeks preop diet on the 23rd. It's hard when you work at fast food place and surrounded by all the carbs. I went from 345 to 335 within that time period, hoping to get to the 20's in weight for surgery. But I have been curious, how does one know if their liver is shrinking? Is it just by weight loss? 1 jdown reacted to this
PatientEleventyBillion 851 Posted May 30, 2017 If you've followed the diet, if you've been losing weight, pretty much guaranteed your liver has shrunk. The mechanisms that cause the liver to shrink are pretty much identical to that which causes weight loss.
Pam_2-06-2017 375 Posted May 30, 2017 In understand it happens pretty fast on the pre-op diet. If you followed your pre-op plan then there is absolutely no concern at all.Take care
jdown 11 Posted June 1, 2017 I asked my surgeon if there was a way to tell before he cut into me on surgery day, he said no, but that he's only ever had to cancel 1 surgery because the liver was too big, and so long as you're following the diet you're good to go. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm very excited and have my eyes on how I will look within months after surgery.
