I always seemed to diet right around my bday. Lol! This lifestyle change will be worth the sacrifice though!

Ha ha... that's so true. Funny...i always started my diets in October. Anyways did great through all the challenges of Halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas. You know what did me in. Valentine's day... baskin robins love potion Ice cream always came out then. Been two years since I've had it. Going strong. This will be so worth it. GrInS :)

You guys are right before me. I will be looking for updates. My surgery is Weds.

I am super excited for you! I have to calm myself because I have been getting anxious, although it is in a good way I have to be careful not to work myself up. To combat my anxiousness I am starting to prep for that day i.e. packing my bag for my 2 day stay at the hospital, shopping for my post op liquid diet, chewable vitamins....

Hi, I am officially a July sleever, just got the deposit in (I am doing cash pay) and finally sealed my surgery date. July 19th. I have to now get ready for the 2 weeks of Protein Drinks for 2 meals. Right after July 4, if I calculated correctly.

Im trying really hard to notice every bite of food, every automatic thing I take for granted (even today, I popped a sandwich crust from my daughter's lunch box into my mouth... whaaat? Into the trash, not me!

I've been so busy getting all the tests done etc, that only now am I starting to feel fear. But I have a prolactinoma and I will never be normal weight if I don't do this. And I've started to get the high BP and edema and such, Andy I'm old but my kids are young so I have to be healthy for a long time.

Glad to be joining you all.

We are glad to have you here with us. This is a journey and we can use all the support we can get. Great encouragement along the way will help use be success. Have no fear (although fear is a normal response to a major surgery or event), you are doing the right thing for you and your family.:D I know you will have much success on your journey. Good luck!

I'm flying in the day of surgery and will be leaving NJ at like 5am. I am set to arrive in CA at around 11AM (w/ the time change taken into consideration) and having surgery the same day. I'm a little nervous that I am not supposed to have any Fluid after midnight before surgery...

That's going to be quite the trip w/o a drink of Water or anything. Anyone heard feedback from other people that have flown in the day of?

So last night was the first time I've been hungry since my surgery on 7/3. All I've had is Clear Liquids until last night. I tried about 4 sips of Premier Protein and I was good. This morning I was hungry so around 10-10:30 I grabbed another shake. I've been sipping ever since and drank about 2/3 rds. Well apparently that's to much because I felt like I was just about to vomit. Guess I'll back off. Learned my lesson! This is such a learning curve.

When I first had surgery the doctors said it was alright to drink different Premier drink but only a little at a time because you will fill up fast. So I started making my own iced coffee using the Premier drinks with coffee and almond milk and Creamer it kept me satisfied and nipped the hunger pains in the bud. But it's a mental think we just think that we are hungry from all the years of eating poorly. The first month I lost 43 pounds a week later 11 more pound and now I have to wait 2 months before I weight myself again I only weight myself when I go to visit don't want to disappoint myself so I stay away from scale. But I'm dong really good because clothes are hanging off but you will be fine keep up the good work.

Really I had my surgery in South Carolina the only thing. My doctor told me no soda. Did your doctor give you a book that tells you everything you could have mine said no sugar with coffee only creamer. The booklet has everything that you can have in week one and so on.

I had a hard time saying goodbye to my Morning caffeine. I found Starbucks cafe Verona Decaf is so rich and flavorful that I don't notice the difference between this and caffeinated .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
