Joann454 1,329 Posted May 29, 2017 Our weather has been lousy so at a week post op I've just been doing laps in the house. I have a bike but not a treadmill and the bike was too painful to do this early. So today I took my first walk outside. I feel so spent. Like a wet noodle. I didn't even go far! How'd I lose so much stamina?
EmmyJ 184 Posted May 29, 2017 Don't worry! You've just had major surgery and your body is recovering from the trauma. Plus, you're eating next to nothing right now, so you've got rather little fuel to go on. It will get easier, and it will happen soon if you keep at the walking and do just a little bit more every time. I certainly didn't go far a week postop! Don't be discouraged
Joann454 1,329 Posted May 29, 2017 Thanks. I felt like an invalid! My legs are still wobbly. I'll keep at it.
blizair09 3,250 Posted May 29, 2017 @Joann454 It will get better. My first 2 days post-op were pure hell, but by Day 3, everything started to improve and then steadily improved every day after that. By the second week post-op, I was able to walk 2 miles every day. Fatigue was an issue for me for a solid 2 months post-op, though. I took a six week medical leave from work, and I took a get-in-the-bed nap every single afternoon during those 6 weeks!

(I did a 1/4 mile and felt so weak)I just crawled into bed. It's making me crazy because it's so beautiful out.
blizair09 3,250 Posted May 29, 2017 I usually took my nap after the walk. The walk was in 2 parts. My spa (tanning, hydro therapy, message, etc.) is 1 mile from my house. I would walk there, have the services, and then walk home.
