Has anyone NOT lost their hair?

Recommended Posts

Haven't lost hair and yesterday was 7 months post op for me. Only taking calcium citrate, Iron, Multivitamin and weekly B12.

I'm over 6 months post op and started noticing a few hairs coming out... so few that I'm not sure I'm really losing any at all. I have really long, thick hair and would notice if I had any significant Hair loss.

I take my Celebrate multi Vitamin with Iron every day and also take Calcium with D-3.

I've heard that some people take Biotin to strengthen their hair (I don't think it prevents loss), but if you do lose, it might help with the new hair growing in.

Me, I didn't lose hair. I'm at 7 almost 8 months now.

But I was fanatical about getting in my Protein, Water and Vitamins. But I feel like it's kind of a case by case basis. Lots of people here did the same thing I did and kept protein and everything else a priority and still lost their hair.

The Hair loss happens around month 7 or 8 and lasts a few months.

My hair is very thick also but I could tell by how much I was shedding.

I'm 5 1/2 months out and haven't lost any. Hope I'll be one of the lucky ones who gets a pass, but I'm not banking on it. I'm taking all the recommended supplements plus Biotin for regrowth. I'm also taking Biosil even though it's expensive because my hair stylist swears by it for recovery from hair loss/ trauma.

I was sleeved in January and I have not experienced any Hair loss. My hair is not very thick, so I think I would have noticed if I had. But I am a slow loser. I feel like that may play a part. The weight loss was unbelievably slow the first 3 months. I have only started losing at a good pace this last 2 months. I started at 214 and weigh 170 this morning.

7-8 months?!? Ugh.

Mine started at about 3 months. I'm at 5.5 months now. It's still happening but maybe a bit less. I really hope it doesn't get worse again in 2-3 months!

I am 2.5 years post op and never experienced any hairloss. Some people do, some don't!

I hate how willynilly it is and that there's not much we can do to prevent it. I have very thick hair (I used to get it thinned) so maybe it won't be too noticeable. It freaks me out!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
