marieac2 85 Posted May 25, 2017 I'm six months pot op, gastric by-pass.. e verything going well except something weird the past 5 days... when eating dinner about half way through I am getting what I believe to be indigestion. I take an antacid & then I vomit my dinner! Very strange, I do not feel sick, no new food.. had anyone experienced this??
James Marusek 5,244 Posted May 25, 2017 Might be dumping syndrome. If you exceed the volume of food that your stomach can hold it will lead to dumping. This experience can last for about 4 hours and be relieved by vomiting out the excess food. If this is the case, try and recognize the pre-triggers to dumping. It might be hiccup, sneezing, the taste of food suddenly changing, excess mucous, etc. Whenever I hit a pre-trigger, I stop eating immediately. Because one more bite can lead to dumping. Also never eat just before bedtime. Trying to sleep or lay horizontally is impossible when you have dumping.

catwoman7 11,220 Posted May 25, 2017 I do that occasionally when I eat too much or too fast. I don't think it's dumping - most RNY'ers don't dump. Dumping (when it happens) is when you eat too much fat or sugar. 1 marieac2 reacted to this
marieac2 85 Posted May 25, 2017 I agree, I know what dumping is because I experienced this once early on. It was so bad I went to the ER. I think after going over all the details it's a new medication I am taking.
blondie66 271 Posted May 27, 2017 Happens to me if I eat too much at one sitting especially Protein. Sometimes I'll go vomit and then feel much better.
