Yes! And you can even mix in a little unsweetened applesauce! Cream of rice works too. Just remember you will only be able to eat a couple of tablespoons. Maybe 1/4 cup, but it'll take you awhile. Thin it out too.

Forget the Protein powder. You'll be fine. Believe me, that cream of wheat will stick to you.

You just had surgery! You don't need to focus on Protein yet. Just be gentle with yourself. At 1 week out, I was eating cream of rice, unsweetened applesauce, and puréed meat and veggies. That was it. Since you only eat about 3/4 of a cup total per day, i just didn't have time for variety. It got much better on the next stage. Almost like normal food! Focus on your Water more than anything. You'll never lose as much as you do right in the beginning, so take advantage of the opportunity. Good luck!

Thanks, so mainly concentrate on my Water. I've been frustrated because I can't get the Fluid amount or Protein amount in. And I feel like I'm getting weak

Idk... purée some things and make some Soups. That way it counts for liquid too. broth counts for fluid and has some calories to it. Definitely focus on liquids for the time being. You will be weak and tired. It's part of the process. Your body is literally starving but it'll adjust and when it does, you won't lose as much as quickly.

Cream of Wheat has been my go to food for big Protein count. It's also been one of the only things that has actually tasted good. I'm 17 days out from my VSG and 23 lbs down still my energy level is not good but getting better. Good Luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
