PAguy 27 Posted May 25, 2017 Hi everyone, I'm one week post op from the sleeve surgery and I feel awful! My first stage post-op was one week Clear Liquids only....No Protein, no Vitamins, nothing! Just clear liquids. Needless to say I've been miserable since I got home. I'm lightheaded, dizzy, lethargic, irritable, etc. (my poor husband). Today I started stage 2 which is full liquids. I had 2 Protein Shakes, a yogurt shake and of course Water. I was hoping I would feel better now that I'm getting nutrients again, but I still feel the same. To top it all off, I've had terrible diarrhea since I got home. I mean crampingly bad. My a** is legit sore from it. PLEASE tell me this gets better? I'm about to spiral out into a serious depression.
defibvt 348 Posted May 25, 2017 @PAguy I had no problems with liquids, I did have problems with each transition... there is a reason I always tell people to bring an extra pair of underwear along. When I felt the need to go, it was probably too late, I know TMI. I can say that it will eventually get better, and your husband will love you regardless. I would say it could be dumping syndrome. I also find it odd you are not taking your supplements. I had to start taking them 3 days post op. It took me about 45 minutes to get them all down.... Have you checked your blood pressure??? It is concerning that you are dizzy/light headed... are you really getting your fluids in a day???
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted May 25, 2017 Why no Protein the first week - that is why you are dizzy, that is complete fasting????? There are clear Protein Drinks. Mix Protein Powder in the yogurts to get some extra in your system. Get your Vitamins in too.
TheBearguy8 58 Posted May 27, 2017 I am 14 days out, and the lack of Protein is worrisome in your post. Gatorade G2 electrolytes turned me around day 3, in terms of energy most of all. We are all so different from each other, and my early posts I am in a very bizarre state of mind ...there have to be some trial and error solutions....for instance...it was all about the apple juice in the beginning at the hospital , and my instincts about how unhealthy modern apple juice is made...I made my own decision to sub the Gatorade for it. I also don't like Water without a squirt of something. I know underlying our fears on this sub group are problems with our bowels. I was terrified. The diarrhea for me meant SWITCHING THE ANTIBIOTIC. Cefalex is a disaster for me, it I can tolerate most others. The cefalaex was free so I was lazy to switch and it was a 4 day diarrhea disaster. I take a pill called "Pure" which is Fiber and I was back to new normal in 3 days. Just some thoughts 1 defibvt reacted to this
Joann454 1,329 Posted May 27, 2017 Any food item that has a sweetener that ends in "ol" makes me sick as a dog. There went me tasty sugar free pudding. I worry you might be dehydrated from all the diarrhea.
