10/2 bandsters check in!

Recommended Posts

How is everyone? I am a TON better today, every day is better than the one before. I am still having some gas pain but it's considerably less and bearable. I haven't needed any pain meds today. Today I noticed more of a discomfort with my incisions. Not pain but achy.

I got to switch to soft foods today which was wonderful! I have to force myself to eat though, I am just not that hungry. I forgot to take my Vitamins this week so I got back on track today with my Flintstones! And for you ladies, I started my cycle today.... 3 weeks early! I had read on LBT about that being a possibility and it happened to me.

Check in and let us know how you're doing!

Banded 10/2 and doing ok. This is day six and im getting in my creamed Soups which are yuck to me. Cream of mushroom just doesnt taste yum without the casserole. But im doing it. I finally resorted to putting some spices in it. Similary, the liquid Isopure, im putting crystal lite in it. If anyone of you have done the ready made Isopure, you know what a dreaded taste it has, but with a lil flavor it goes down nicely and you get your Protein. For Breakfast yesterday I had cream of wheat diluated with silk soy milk with one spoon of splenda. It was nice and my first carb. Im only getting in 4 oz of liquids at a time but i seem to do much better with Water now. Im not as dehydrated. I was nervous like most of you, but you will find its a breeze, as long as you walk, walk, walk, to get the gas pains out. Good luck to all..will write more..

Aloha and God Bless,

Miriam

Hey 10/02/07 for me too. Ya know I've been doing the Clear Liquids since then. I may go ahead and try a full liquid tonight. Mashed potatoes or some cream of chicken Soup. My doc's office told me to get some Protein Powder. Any suggestions? I was under the impression when I get back to full diet that I should lay off the Protein powder some, so I don't want a big jar of stuff just sitting there.

Liz - My doctor wants me to keep up with the Protein even once I am back to a regular diet. I will probably try to drink one shake a day in addition to what I'm eating.

You may still need the Protein powder anyway to have a mid morning or afternoon shake because you may not be able to get in all your Proteins from food. Im on creamed Soups not mash potatoes yet. That's next week according to my nutritionist. I brought the unflavored protein powder to put in my cream of wheat in the morning and in my cream of soups at night and afternoon. This way im getting in at least 60 grams a day with each meal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
