For my team, 3 weeks post op was purees. So I was on 60-90 grams of Protein a day made up of:

Protein Shakes

pureed meats

Scrambled eggs

Yogurt

Ricotta cheese

tuna or chicken salad

Mashed black Beans or other beans

Hummus

My only goals at that point were eating my 60-90 grams of protein and getting in 64 ounces of Water daily. I was allowed anything less than 5 grams of sugar a serving. sugar free Jello or pudding and popsicles. I could barely eat half a scrambled egg in one sitting at three weeks

My nutritional limits are the following:

1) Carbs - Stay under 25g

2) Fat - Stay under 15g

3) Sugar - Stay under 15g

This was also catered to me from my Nutritionist. Every one is different though.

Rule of thumb. You should have 5g of Protein to every 1g of carbs. The more lean protein you intake the less carbs, sugars and fat you will intake as well.

An overage day for me is:

1) 50 - 70g of protein

2) 10g - 15g of carbs

3) 5 - 10g of fat

4) 5 - 10g of sugar

I hope this helps.

that early out, we were told to only focus on Protein and fluids.

once you're out a little further, a lot of programs severely limit carbs, but not all programs. Many also require you to get at least 60 grams of protein. I don't think all that many have fat requirements. You won't be eating much food during those early months, so once you get your protein in, you won't have a lot of room for much else. Once I got out a few months, I started counting calories, but not fats specifically.

I had to be on Protein Drinks for 2weeks preop and 4 weeks postop. I was able to have broth SF popcicles and SF pudding but after I made sure that I got as much Protein and fluids in I never had any room for anything else. But those are the 2 things my DR told all of his patients: PROTEIN AND MORE PROTEIN!! Lots of fluids because we can get dehydrated quickly.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
